This might be something that DVD Planet Quote Machine users might want to do since DVD Planet will not be accepting used discs until August 31st (they're upgrading something). And when Quote Machine gets back up and running, who's to say they won't be paying about the same (in other words "less") as Second Spin currently pays for your discs now?

Can someone tell me what the turnaround time is for Second Spin? (From receipt of your package to issuing of funds). And how do they pay you? Store credit? Check by mail?

Their turnaround time is great, I've sold CDs and DVDs to them several times, and have always gotten paid very quickly. According to their FAQ page, they issue payment within a week of receiving the items. In my experience, it's usually less than a week, then I just have to wait for the check to arrive in the mail. They'll pay you by check, PayPal, or by store credit. You get the same amount either way. They won't take scratched discs, but they send them back at their expense, which is pretty cool.

I'll definitely be taking advantage of this 20% extra promotion. I was going to sell some discs to DVDPlanet, but noticed that thing about them not buying any DVDs until the end of August. This works out better, I'd rather have the money than store credit anyway. Thanks for posting this!

Rob

Hmm...$52.80 for a bunch of CDs I don't listen to anymore.

How strict are they on the quality? They're all complete and pretty much without scratches.

Those pre-paid boxes at the USPS come in VERY handy for just this kind of thing! Flat fee, no matter how much you pack into it!

Yeah, Quote Machine being down really screwed me over. I quoted a bunch of dvds Blockbuster was selling for $4 that I could get $6-$8 from dvdplanet on my lunch break one day. Then on my way home I stopped by and bought them, only to discover that Quote Machine was down until the end of August. Now I'm stuck with $50 worth of crap dvds and I'm really fearing that dvdplanet won't be offering near as much as they used to when they come back up.

I found $70 worth of DVDs to sell, so I'll make an extra $14. The shipping should only be about half that. Thanks again for posting this, bwsmom!

No problemo! Happy to do it, since I spent so much time bemoaning the wait for it to come up!

Oh, and a hello from a former San Diegan!

Why can't you guys save boxes you get from when you make orders and re-use them for shipping used movies off to DVDPlanet/SecondSpin? MediaMail shipping...I just shipped off like 16 used DVDs to DVDPlanet for less than $4.

How do they price MediaMail shipping when you send it? I have an extra box lying around from DVDPlanet I could use.

They definitely pay way more than going rate for some titles. I can't recall exact titles, but I made money on some absolute junk in the past.

I'm so mad at myself right now. I've been delaying sending in a box of DVDs to DVD Planet. No good reason. Just laziness. Ugh ..

Thanks for the link. I'm sure I can scrounge up a box from somewhere. I'm tempted to run to Gamestop tomorrow to grab a copy of Timesplitters lol.

Thanks to the OP. I had a bunch of stuff just sitting on my shelf that I never watch, and so I figured I might as well sell.
