Well I'm definitely biased when it comes to giant monster flicks, so obviously I was psyched when I read about this. Saw the trailer today and that multiplied the psyched factor ten fold. I kept going "Show it!" but of course that didn't happen. They won't reveal the monster for a while I'm figuring.
Yeah that's what I was thinking when I first heard about this. I wonder what the folks that are doing the US remake of that flick think about this?
"Support everything giant monster, help bring about a big budget Godzilla movie (the real Godzilla)!"

This teaser was a freakin word of mouth now in the net.
The following speculations pops out:
1. A possible Godzilla remake/sequel
2. A "Lost" related movie
3. "The Host" like movie
4. "Parasite" comes into the picture
5. Even "Voltron" comes into picture
This JJ Abrams dude sure do know how to leave people with "WTF" questions...
I hope this doesnt fall as a crappy movie once it comes out in 1-18-08
A great marketing strategy having it included with Transformers and make audiences in disbelief with a lot of questions in mind prior watchin a summer popcorn flick!

I can't believe that in this age of the internet and every major movie having its script and plot points leaked that this movie has completely slipped under the radar. Bravo, Paramount. Now explain how your internal security on the Star Trek films is so poor?
And what kind of release date is January 18? That's the dumping ground for movies!

That "Roar" sounded a lot like Godzilla, but you're probably right. I don't think Paramount owns the rights to Godzilla.
Who does own the American rights to Godzilla? Fox?

Well, Sony had the rights for the previous Godzilla flick, so I'll assume they still have them... but coming out in January definitely confirms this is not a Godzilla flick...but that was the consensus of many people at Transformers who saw this...the other half were like me, scratching their heads saying "what fucking movie is that teaser for"... really weird marketing strategy going on here.....

Yeah, I need to edit out the DLP comment.
A lot of theatres show it in DLP. The AMC in Tallahassee got a DLP projector a few months ago to accomidate Meet the Robinsons in 3D (amongst others). Back down in Central Florida there are numerous theatres that are predominately DLP (12 of 16 screens in some cases). Of course, they're all newer (we got 3 new theatres from 2002 - 2004.)

Better cam straight on and better audio.

I'm gonna guess that it not Godzilla since Sony still own the rights.
I cant begin to guess what it might be.Could be a new thing for all we know...

Looks interesting. I'm a sucker for big monster movies so if that's what this turns out to be then I'm game. Even if not, it still looks better than most tripe that trailers show these days.

In both of the threaters I saw this in the crowd was all hyped up for Transfromers but they got totally quiet and were fixed on the screen when this rolled. But when it was done they all booed.

I highly doubt Paramount would be able to keep a Voltron movie produced by J.J. Abrams under wraps. The only way they could is if this is a new thing that no one is looking for. I'm guessing this is an entirely new IP.

I’m not sure if it’s going to be attached to TRANSFORMERS or if we’ll see it later in the summer, but it’s definitely coming soon. And the end of it should feature one of those iconic images that makes people talk about a trailer for months.
And what makes this different than any other giant monster movie? Well, as I understand it, most of the film is going to be shot using home video cameras, as if from the point of view of real people who are experiencing an attack on New York. It’s designed as a fairly small picture, all things considered, and right now, they’re working to make sure the script is going to deliver some wild thrills (like an earthquake that levels Manhattan or an oil tanker flipping over by the Statue of Liberty), but that it’s not suddenly going to turn into a giant $150 million movie. It’s a tricky balance, and if they pull off everything they’re trying to do, CLOVERFIELD could be something really groovy. Not a man in suit in sight.
