Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced a Resident Evil double feature collector's set which includes both Resident Evil and Resident Evil: Apocalypse. Extras will include a Bridge scene narrated by Milla Jovovich in character and featuring film clips from all Resident Evil films that tie the first two films to the third, a Diary of an Apocalypse behind the scenes featurette, a Diary of an Apocalypse behind the scenes featurette, a Zombie Dog P.O.V Test, a Stuntman set tour, an Undead Boot Camp feature, a Memory Retention Division feature, and an Evil Archives photo gallery. Finishing off the set will be an exclusive sneak peek of Resident Evil: Extinction, and a ticket to see the film when it arrives in theaters. You'll be able to own this one from the 4th September for around $19.94. Stay tuned for the artwork.

"Film clips from the first two movies that tie it to the third"? Do they assume I'm so retarded that after watching the first two movies I would need a featurette to show me how they all connect? The scripts for these movies were about as deep as a kiddie pool. I'm pretty sure following along isn't a big problem for most people.

I liked the first one, the second one was alright. If Extinction exceeds my expectations I might consider the inevitable trilogy boxset when it comes out. Until then, I see no reason to pick up a two-pack of the first two movies.

Because for $14.99 at BB, you get the double pack, a third exclusive bonus DVD, the free movie ticket, and $5 concession cash.
Seems like a no-brainer if you plan to see the movie. Even if you give away the 3 DVDs, you're still saving 50 cents pretty much.

Saw the packaging at BB this morning. You can easily skip this one and wait for hopefully a very nice trilogy box set. This is just a standard dvd case that holds 2 disc with a slipcover.

I bought the Spawn Steelbook instead.
Waiting for the 6-disc director's cuts of all three films in steelbook. SD DVD and HD DVD preferably (as well as Blu-ray).

Also, I would guess that at least the 3rd bonus disc won't be carried over into the eventual triple drip.
I'll likely give the main DVDs away as gift or ebay them.
I see no reason to not buy this set. I picked up two copies actually.

A couple notes on the set:
The slipcover looks to be printed on a reflective material and will easily flake/rub off leaving behind just the reflective surface.
Disc 1 contains both movies (01:40:33 and 01:33:49 - English 5.1 and French 5.1 available on both) plus a scene from Resident Evil 3 (2:07).
Disc 2 has the special features. Runtime is about 52 minutes but also has a trivia-game and photo gallery. Previews are included for RE: Umbrella Chronicles (Game). RE: Extinction, Hostel: Part II, Vacancy, Ray Harryhausen in Color, Bobby Z, Contractor, Wind Chill.
Disc 3 has 2 features: Making of Resident Evil (27:20) and Resident Evil Extinction: Sneak Peak (3:35)

At some point, I imagine that one of us will pull out the old releases and do a total comparison of both the features and all the special features.
There are definitely things brand new to this release, and definitely things not carried over from the old releases.

^ I'm glad that they did decide to go for mostly new features (and ones of such a lengthy (almost an hour and a half worth)). It's also nice that they separated them onto its own disc so that you can give away the movies if you choose (especially those concerned about AV quality).
The inclusion of the movie cash makes it a no-brainer for those planning to see it in theaters!

Hi. I was curious about the two covers I've seen.. One with Jovovich holding two guns and the one where she's wrapped in a towel.. Was the later one used somewhere in the packaging? Or a pre-release cover they changed before it went into production?
Anyone know's what's up with the Sept 18th release in Canada? I'm hoping the Bestbuy one will have the bonus dvd, or I'll need to make a trip to get it.. Is there $14.99 price only for the first week release?
Thanks
