Halloween - Yet another re-release?
Just saw this...
http://dreadcentral.com/index.php?na...ticle&sid=2315
Completists rejoice! Yet another DVD release of John Carpenter's Halloween is on its way courtesy of Anchor Bay Entertainment! On August 14th you'll be able to get your hands on an all-new, specially designed O-card edition of Halloween at the low SRP of $14.98. What's that you ask? The new O-card takes the iconic Halloween logo to a whole new level of cool, featuring glowing jack-o-lantern eyes and nose artwork. Mind you, the only new thing here is the artwork. The supplemental materials are the same ones that can be found on their Halloween Restored Edition DVD release from a couple of years back. Those looking for more should be patient, as something tells me next year we'll probably see a special 30th Anniversary Edition with some new goodies. Pre-order your copy here from EVILSHOP! For more Halloween news, check out our Halloween archive, then head on over to The Official Rob Zombie's Halloween MySpace site here, and then of course, The Official Rob Zombie's Halloween website here! - Uncle Creepy Got news? Click here to submit it! Discuss how many Halloween DVD's you have in our forums! Want free stuff? Bring us new blood!

Seriously? Not even one new thing? I'd rather wait (a probable eternity) for the new footage that Don May Jr. recently unearthed than pony up for this crap. That footage he found practically guarantees another edition somewhere down the line.

Wait a second. It's the same as the 1999 DVD release (with both anamorphic widescreen and pan and scan transfers) or is it the same as the first disc of the 2002 DVD release (which is just the film and commentary)?
Seriously. As stated before, I'll jump on board for a third go-around once we get a transfer struck from the negatives Don May Jr. found.

i have the version that included the TV footage of Loomis talking to the hospital directors and michael in the asylum...
that's my favorite so far...
i am looking forward to Zombie's effort this fall...
that could be a knockout... i hope it is...

Must be a tie-in with Rob Zombie's film. Count me out. Already have the Limited and the 25th Anniversary Editions. Neither need, nor particularly care for, the eyes and nose to glow. (Not altogether different from slapping a lenticular cover on to the same old DVD.) Something big, and truly worthy of another dip, will likely be unveiled for the 30th anniversary, and I will be all over that one.

Actually the 25th anniversary Divimax dvd is the correct 1978 Theatrical Transfer. The blue hues everyone is familiar with were color corrected on subsequent home video releases by the original cinematographer to make the film look like it had a bigger budget (of course with approval by John Carpenter.)
But back to the topic, I own the Divimax version, Television cut (single disc release) and 25 years of terror documentary on the entire series. I don't think anyone can release anything else that will surprise me with new info concerning the film what with what I have already. I won't be triple dipping for that matter.

Tedious release. If it was released in a steelbook, on the other hand...

Even though this is one of my all time favorite films, I'll be passing on this for the same reason I passed on the Fight Club steelbook - a new cover isn't enough of a draw to get me to open my wallet again for something I already own.

FYI, at Best Buy, I saw a sticker on the slipcover advertising a free ticket to Zombie's remake. Priced at only $9.99, this is kind of a bargain for those were planning on seeing the remake. Plus, you get an extra nice slipcover
