Fox Film Noir + Horror Titles = Halloween 2007 Promotion?

Both Barrie Maxwell's Coming Attractions column at DigitalBits and creepyclassics.com are reporting Fox is planning the following for a Fall 2007 release as a Halloween promotion:

The Lodger (1944, with Laird Cregar),
Hangover Square (1945, with Laird Cregar),
Man Hunt (1941, with Walter Pidgeon and George Sanders)
Chandu the Magician (1932, with Bela Lugosi)
The Undying Monster (1942)

I cannot wait for these!!!!! Laird Cregar and Bela Lugosi classics!

SOME QUESTIONS:
I *know* that the Laird Cregar titles have been passed around for a long time as possible Fox Film Noir releases. Does anyone know if the first 3 titles of this list will see a return to this great series?

Chandu the Magician is Bela Lugosi's best serial, IMHO. Does anyone know if this will be the serial or just the edited-down movie version?

Haven't seen any of those, but that's what is great about DVD...the opportunity to try new movies. Can't wait!

I think you may be a little confused.

Chandu the Magician is a feature film made in 1932, directed by William Cameron Menzies. Lugosi does not play Chandu, he plays the main villain.

The Return of Chandu was made a few years later and was a serial. Lugosi did play Chandu in that. The serial was later released as two features that have turned up in various public domain releases - one I think is called Chandu on The Magic Island.

Chandu the original feature is not public domain and has not previously seen a DVD release. It is also one hell of a film.

The Undying Monster (1942) This is a great little movie they always show on AMC in October. I'll definitely get it.

Hu Phan: Thanks for the clarification on Chandu. This is great news in that this will be a Lugosi film I haven't seen but bad news in that I'd still like to see Chandu the serial receive a *nice* release.

I'm looking forward to these titles!

Never seen any of these but I plan on picking them all up. That would be great if a few of them wound up as new additions to the Film Noir line.

DVD Drive-In has just reported that these are also coming from Fox in September:

TALES FROM THE CRYPT/VAULT OF HORROR, CHOSEN SURVIVORS/THE EARTH DIES SCREAMING, DEVILS OF DARKNESS/WITCHCRAFT, BLUEPRINT FOR MURDER/MAN IN THE ATTIC and THE FLY(original)/RETURN OF THE FLY/CURSE OF THE FLY.

Terrific line-up!
