Please note that if you participated in Amazon's promo toward the end of last year to get 10% savings on all HD and Blu-ray titles for 12 months, the 10% comes off the pre-savings total. (so you save 10% on three and THEN get the price of the third taken off). Not a bad deal at all...
Also look for opportunities to combine this with a $10 off PS3 rebate form, if you have one.

Can someone explain HD and Blu-ray to me? I have a regular dvd player but I don't know if I should be buying these for future viewings if I ever upgrade or what they're like played in normal dvd players.

As far as upgrading, I highly recommend it if you have an High Definition television. The difference in quality is remarkable.

They are essentially the next generation of media format. They are competing with each other, much like Beta and VHS once did. Blu Ray discs require specific Blu Ray players (like a Playstation 3). HD-DVD discs require the same. I recently got both and am very impressed. Neither will play in a normal DVD player, but DVDs will play in both a HD-DVD player and a Blu Ray player.
Should you upgrade? I love it. But it will cost money, and to get the full benefits of video and audio, you'll need decent equpiment. And I have my doubts how much or how quickly the mainstream will really join in on the format. But I'm happy as is.
