DVDPlanet trade-ins?

Sorry, I don't know which forum would be the best to post this in, but I'm looking to trade in about $140 worth of dvds that I put through the quote database.

I haven't seen a link to click on that explains things, though maybe I just missed it.

How long does the process take? Do I have to pay for shipping (and if so, approximately how much am I looking to be paying if I'm trading in 22 dvds?).

I'd be grateful for any help. Thank you.

From my experience they do not pay for shipping costs. (Shipping costs would be determined by what method it is shipped. The cheapest is media mail which can be used for DVDs.) After inputing the DVDs that you want to sell in the quote database, you should have received an e-mail with the following instructions:

"A copy of your quote is being forwarded to our offices, and you are
receiving this copy for your records via e-mail. Please be sure to print
a copy of this quote and include it your shipment to us.

Please package your used discs you intend to sell to us securely. We
assume no responsibility for any in-transit damage that may cause us to
reject any items as unusable. We suggest that if you are very concerned
about possible lost/stolen/damaged discs, that you insure your shipment
for your protection. WE RESERVE THE RIGHT OF REFUSAL ON ANY USED DVD.

WE WILL NOT ACCEPT DVDS WITH FINGERPRINTS, SMUDGES OR SCRATCHES. DISCS
THAT HAVE ANY OF THESE QUALITIES WILL BE IMMEDIATELY RETURNED TO YOU.

Make sure your correct home address and phone number are listed on your
quote so that we can contact you.

Please send your shipment of used discs to:

DVD Planet
Attn: QuoteMachine Shipment #11964
P.O. Box 827,
Itasca, IL 60143

Again, thank you for using QuoteMachine, and we look forward to seeing
you again as a DVD Planet customer! If you have any questions, don't
hesitate to use the phone number or e-mail address below.

Sincerely,

Mark Harrill

(Did you receive it? If not, perhaps you input your e-mail address incorrectly or the message went into a spam file.)

Yeah, I waited a little while to see if anyone would answer then I ended up just submitting.

I plan on shipping out the dvd either tomorrow or Thursday.

Any idea how long it will take until I get the credit in my account?

I sent in a large batch of DVDs for trade last November -- about $450.00 -- it took about 4-5 weeks before I got the credit. It was during the holiday season when I did this and they were also offering an additional 20% credit on all trade ins at that time.

The good news s that they did not reject one of my dvds. Overall very happy with tthe experience.

Depends on the volume of DVDs that they need to process... In the past I've experienced one week... And I've experienced up to six weeks. Recently, it's been ~ two weeks.

Is there another additional 20% thing planning on going on anytime in the near future?

No information on an additional 20% for trade-ins, but you can get an additional 20% off on buying at the site right now. (Probably not very helpful to you at this time, since your trade-ins wouldn't be processed in time for the sale.)

Another trade-in option would be to sell them to Wherehouse.com. (Wherehouse usually offers less money for your trade-ins, but there are a few DVDs where they're better and they cover some shipping costs.) I mention Wherehouse because you have the option of getting cash, Wherehouse credit, or credit sent to your Paypal account and they seem pretty quick. (I sent them a trade-in box last week of DVDs and CDs of over three hundred bucks and it was received and processed in three days. I live ten miles from their trade-in center, however.)

Anyone ever lose a trade-in credit due quote expiry? I sent a quote in on 5/7/07 by parcel post and it didn't arrive until 5/30. So far no credit and my quote expired yesterday.

So no way to send dvd's to planet via UPS? I see they list a PO Box number and not a street address. I think I trust ups a little more than the postal service.

This message was posted from Mark at DVD Planet in a different thread:

"You can send them to:

900 N Rohlwing Road
Itasca, IL 60143

This will slow down the processing quite a bit since it will have to go through a different receiving process than normal."

Hope that helps!

You're fine. The 30 days expiration date is for the items to arrive. It typically takes atleast another couple of weeks before they process your credit.

Are you supposed to recieve an initial email saying they recieved your shipment? Or is it not until your credit has been processed?

My shipment was delivered on Wed by ups to the address Mark gave. Haven't heard anything yet from DVDplanet, hopefully I will soon.

Nothing until the credit is processed (atleast that has been the case for me).

I'm sending in my old Third Man on Monday. It's like a 12 dollar credit. Will I be able to use that credit on new dvds or is it only for used? I've never seen an option to type in a store credit code so I was wondering.

New or used. Credit from your account is applied to whatever you purchase.
