Gargoyles - Season 2, Pt 2 .... Worse news I have heard for a season set!

This is the first time I find out that they may stop a season release mid way till theyre done because of poor sales. Sure some shows release 1 season than stop, but Gargoyles is halfway done!

As the creator says, get off your butt and buy Season 2, Pt 1!!!

I just read about it on TVShowsOnDVD.com and ordered my season set. I was hoping for a price drop, but don't want to take any chances!

This is such a great series, it is shame fan support has dropped off to the point where they are thinking of not seeing this all the way through.

I haven't bought it but I will now because of the possible future bad news.

I hope that once I buy it they don't decide to cancel the future releases because than I will be pissed.

Isn't the next set the last of the episodes before the Goliath chronicles? if so, they need to just release it. Is it so bad to break even on a small set to make your customers happy? If they keep pulling this kind of thing people will start waiting until the entire series is out before they buy anything.

Thus part of the problem.

I say buy it. After all, if we could get Mary Tyler Moore season two (and three) after all that time after season one reportedly did so bad in sales, anything can happen. And the more people who buy it, the better chances we will get vol 2. I will definately add this to my cart and next time I place an order, this is going to be in it.

Part of the problem is they wait too long to put out sets inbetween seasons. If people get hooked by a first season, waiting 6mos or more between seasons is going to kill it.

I purchased both sets.

That stinks. I hope things work out, though---they're almost at the home stretch and it would suck for the rest of this series to get shelved.

I thought MTM really wasn't a problem with sales, but rather them not
wanting to compensate Asner's estate for the work done on the extras?

As for Gargoyles, I'm of the waiting for a price drop camp (though I looked
to see if anyone had a sale price for it on release day). And while it may
be true that poor sales hurt future releases, I see this announcement
as more of a scare tactic than a heartfelt outcry so fans get the whole
series. The whole buy 1/2 a season then MAYBE we'll put out the other
half doesn't sit well either (in that I do what they say and I still end up
with an incomplete set). Pork chop sandwiches anyone...

Do full seasons or confirm that broken seasons will be complete (Lost
In Space, Thundercats, Masters Of The Universe...). If companies don't
give their consumers that security why should they expect the loyalty
in return.

I loved the entire Gargoyles series, but Buena Vista is being to greedy with the price point put on this set, which has kept me from buying it. Compared to the prices of Batman: TAS, Superman, He-Man, who have the same target audience, Gargoyle's retail price is to high. They should lower it a couple of bucks and sales are going to increase.

Batman: The Animated Series - $44.95 per season (28 Episodes)
Gargoyles: Season 2, Vol. 1 - $39.99 (26 Episodes)
Superman: The Animated Series - $26.95 per season (18 Episodes)

For everyone complaining that they're being gouged by Disney, here's my advice... Quit smoking crack!

Just becasue retailers aren't discounting the Gargoyles sets to you liking does not mean Disney is at fault.

In fact, if you actually do soime research on DVD Pricesearch you'll be stunned, Gargoyles: Season 2, Vol. 1 is cheaper than each volume of Batman: The Animated Series.

Batman is $15-$18 off the retail price and it has one more disc and more features than the Gargoyles set. The Superman sets are sold for under $20. He-Man has a similar price scheme as Batman. The Gargoyles has 3 discs and its sold for only $8 off the retail price, which these days is nothing. Buena Vista has to lower the price for the set to increase sales. Other sets like Ducktales and Rescue Rangers have a lower MSRP, so Buena Vista can do the same with Gargoyles.

I wonder what the results were of this "distress signal"? All I know is that it got me to pick up Season 2: Part 1 and I would now like to complete the series.

I bought the set as well. I know that these "distress signals" are manipulative, but I hope they release the second half soon and not just shelf the rest of the series!

Tvshowsondvd.com has a small tidbit on the set.

The same as last time. If the others set sell, then Season 2 part 2 will be released.
