Garbage Best of: Absolute Garbage 07/17/07
A newly recorded Garbage single, "Tell Me Where It Hurts," will be included on an upcoming best-of collection, "Absolute Garbage." Due July 17 via Geffen, the CD/DVD combo includes 17 audio tracks on its first disc, a second disc with 14 remixes and a DVD with 15 music videos, live clips and behind-the-scenes footage.
Among the acts chipping in with remixes on the bonus disc are UNKLE, Massive Attack, the Crystal Method, Todd Terry and Felix Da Housecat.
Meanwhile, "Tell Me Where It Hurts" will arrive July 9 on two separate 7-inch vinyl singles -- one with the B-side "Bad Boyfriend (Sting Like a Bee remix)" and the other with "All the Good in This Life." The CD single sports the B-side "Betcha." A video for the new song, directed by Sophie Muller, began airing internationally last week.
Garbage has been on hiatus since 2005, although the group reunited in late January to play a benefit concert in Glendale, Calif. It is unknown if further activity is in the offing, as frontwoman Shirley Manson is moving forward with her first solo album.
Here is the track list for "Absolute Garbage:
DVD:
"Vow"
"Queer"
"Only Happy When It Rains"
"Stupid Girl"
"Milk"
"Push It"
"I Think I'm Paranoid"

"Cherry Lips (Go Baby Go)"
"Shut Your Mouth"
"Why Do You Love Me"

I'm not feeling much about the new single. Sounds like the type of song I'd take a piss break during a concert.

They left off my favorite Garbage song, "Parade."
Had they released this greatest hits album a few years ago, I would have bought it. Now, I already own all of their individual albums.

Agreed. "Soldier Through This, Deadwood, Thirteen Girl Don't Come" are GREAT tunes.

I like that new single, but agree that we're way overdue for a b-sides collection. Their remixes, for the most part, I don't care about (the exception being the Fun Lovin' Criminals remix of "You Look So Fine").

actually, considering I am opposed to downloading (because I don't feel like I "own" it unless I have the cd and booklet to go with it), I am happy to get a remix collection, I like dance mixes but very few are legally available in America, especially in a package together.
I can see them going the No Doubt route and dropping a b-sides collection a few months later.

I really wish they'd release a b-sides album too.
I already own all of the albums, and don't care about remixes at all, so this collection is definitely not for me.
The only thing that would interest me is if the DVD has all of the music videos they've done in 5.1 surround or something.

i'm amazed that the novelty that was/is garbage is still trying to release tunes. that song is god-awful.
maybe it'd be worth re-buying the 1st album since my copy is ruined. that way, i can listen to something that doesn't make me want to fall asleep while puking.

I'd love to have the b-side "Alien Sex Fiend" on CD. I've had the MP3 of that song for like 10 years but I never did figure out what it was on.
I used to own the single that had "Thirteen" on it but trades it away years ago.
Lick the Pavement....I can't remember where I saw that song at.
I haven't really kept up on my Garbage much since I traded away 2.0.

Anyone know what's going on with this release?
At amazon.com I'm seeing a 2-Cd limited edition, a single disc edition and a separate DVD listing.
No mention of a CD/DVD pakage anywhere. So, I checked the band's official site and see this:
Absolute Garbage - NEW INFO
So, if I reading this right, everywhere else is going to get the CD/DVD combo, but we're going have to buy them separately? WTF?

In North America, the album and special edition will be released on July 17th. The North American DVD release has moved to July 24th, it will be worth the wait!
Outside of North America the album/dvd/special edition will be released on July 23rd.

One may still exist and I've gotten earlier bulletins with conflicting info, so they've not done the best job disseminating info, but my guess is both are going be on sale July 24th.
And I agree with all the comments about a b-sides release, but once they go and do a GH and DVD, I wonder, marketing wise, if they probably don't even have an plans to sell yet another album of "old" material on some later date, not too far off. So, I think we might not get that b-sides album for a long time, if ever.

I still plan on picking it up the GH Album (hopefully with the CD/DVD combo at Best Buy), though I agree that I wish the B-Sides collection was released with it.
