Who has successfully meshed guitar and synths better...New Order or Depeche Mode?
New Order and Depeche Mode are two of my favorite bands ever. Both of them have managed to successfully gel synthesizers and guitars beautifully. But who has done it better? NO or DM? Perfect Kiss is a masterpiece and an excellent example...but then, so is Personal Jesus

Depeche Mode has been able to be consistant for a longer period of time. New Order finally broke up, and I don't know many people who have been crazy about anything since Technique. OTOH, Playing The Angel is widely regarded as the Mode's best album since Violator.

Was Depeche Mode even using guitars in 1981? New Order had songs that were primarily guitar based back then. I wasn't taking Joy Division into account in my thinking.
