The 2007 DVD Talk Theatrical Flop Game
Alright, there's always threads talking about what will be the year's biggest movie and/or best movie before they come out.
Why not talk about the bad? Let's make a game out of it.
What movie will perform the worst at the box office in 2007?
Since this is a game, let's establish some...
Ground Rules
I. Figures. Box office used is theatrical US/Domestic grosses from Box Office Mojo. For production budget, sources include IMDB, Box Office Mojo, or any other reputable source (Variety and EW is fine, your cousin's blog is not).
II. Eligibility. Movies must be released between 1/5/2007 and 12/28/2007. Movies must have been shown on at least 1000 screens, regardless of whether it's the opening weekend or a subsequent "platforming" weekend. Re-issues of and/or movies from 2006 (or earlier) are not eligible.
III. Making Picks. You can make up to ten picks from now until the end of the contest. Obviously, you can duplicate picks. Once you make a pick, you've made it and can't take it back. You do not need to make all ten picks at once. You can make one or two now and the rest as the year goes on.
IV. Scoring.
A. At the end of the year, I will tally two Top Ten Flop Lists: an Absolute Flop List and a Relative Flop List. (If anyone has better ideas for the titles, I'm open to suggestions).
1. The Absolute Flop List. Which movie made the least money, period?
2. The Relative Flop List. This one is a bit trickier. Which movie lost the most money? The Loss is defined as: Box Office minus Production Budget. (We don't count marketing/promotional costs, or what distributors/theatres make, etc).
B. If you picked movies that were on either list, scoring goes as follows:
V. The "Prize"... The "winner" will get as a "prize" my least favorite DVD out of my collection (which may or may not be Freejack, for example). If anyone wants to add their least favorite DVD to the "winnings" that's fine, but it's obviously not a requirement.
VI. Miscellaneous: To make this easier on me, I am not going to keep track of anything until the end of the contest.

Alright, let's get started! Have fun!

How to Make Your Picks
Post your pick, then post how many pick(s) you have left. You have up to ten picks from now until Dec 28th. For example, "I pick Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Picks left: 9.

I think the point system should strictly be based on Box Office minus Budget. Because picking something that was never gonna make money like The Ex shouldn't count. Just my opinion.
