Perfume: 2 Disc+OST CD & Novel Premium LE (Korean)

I'm considering getting this Korean edition of PERFUME as seen listed here at
http://www.dvdfromkorea.com/shop/p_d...20&%20Thriller

Does anyone know if the novel might be printed in English? (Mostly likely not, I guess since its being printed in Korea). Anyone with more detailed links or information on this Premium LE would be appreciated.

Oh, that's pretty. I might get that if I watch the movie and end up liking it.

I got Babel from them the other day.

Would this be censored in any way? The Thai R3 is unwatchable due to optical fogging on virtually every scrap of bare skin throughout the entire film. In an odd sort of way, the climactic orgy is absolutely hilarious to see like this.

i don't get why the R1 disc still hasn't been announced (whose behind it?)...plus, i highly doubt we will get a better release than this one or the UK one.

that's been a thai issue of late - one example i know of shows that hitting the angle button actually shifts to an alternative track on the disc which doesnt have the fogging on. try it, you never know...

The French and German DVDs have 4 audio commentaries while the UK has none. I think I will wait for the US release and see if it ports the commentaries.

I suspect the R1 release will be crap compared to other regions. The cover is the worst. I'm considering the pretty R3 Premium edition even if the book is in Korean. I can add my own English copy cheaply enough. I'm not counting on an R1 commentary. The only thing that worries me is the prospect of optical sensoring. The release company is listed as Taewon though which is the company responsible for the Pan's Labyrinth LE falling apart package. I was also not very impressed with the Pan's Labyrinth transfer.

It's been mentioned on couple of sites the book in the Korean LE will be in Korean They are pushing away a great deal of customers by doing so...

I really want this film. I saw it during the one week it played in my town and am flabbergasted that it did nothing in the US while it was quite a hit in Europe (perhaps because it got no marketing here?).

I see the US release looks like crap. The European releases look better but I like it that the Korean has English DTS and it's NTSC and that's a beautiful package. I couldn't care less about the book being in Korean. If I want the book I can pick up a cheap paperback.

The only thing that scares me is optical censoring. If anyone can report on that I'd be most grateful.

Wow, I just saw $16.99(!) for shipping. It'd be cheaper from Yesasia for $44.99 with free shipping.

I also see the 2-disc which looks exactly the same except it doesn't have the OST or the book and the packaging is nowhere near as nice. But it's $28.99 shipped from Yesasia or $23.99 plus $7.99 shipping from DVDfromKorea.

Yesasia has the 2-disc Taiwanese version for $26.99 shipped. It appears to be the same as the Korean 2-disc version except without a DTS track.

In addition, there's a $5.00 off coupon (enter PRUVDO) that expires on either June 1 or July 1 (different information on different coupon sites).

Now Yesasia is listing Japanese single disc and 2-disc Premium edition both of which have DTS according to Amazon.co.jp. I do not know what other specs the Premium edition shall have.

They just added those Japanese editions. Weren't there yesterday although I saw them at CDJapan.

Damn, Japanese DVDs are expensive. Also note they're not released until September 7.

I'm confirming now that the Korean Limited edition includes all full nudity scenes in the movies. Also, it includes DTS track.

Wow. That coverart for the standard 2-disc digipack is incredible.

EDIT: Up on YesAsia for $28.99 shipped.

general question for yesasia customers:

if the dvd listed as "Availability: Usually ships within 7 days " does that mean they have it In Stock or they are still able to get it for ya or is like amazon?

I agree, the Korean cover is good. The R1 art looks like crap.

At this point, I'm probably just going to go with the German HD release. It can sit on the shelf with the Matrix HD set while I wait for a good price on a player.

Usually you can see how they're collecting your order by viewing your order status. In cases when an item "usually ships within 7 days" (and sometimes it applies for items that ship within 24-48 hours) you can see in the order status that in respect to this item they're "searching from suppliers".

I bought the 2-disc from Taiwan at Yesasia because it was $21.99 shipped after a $5.00 coupon (which I think is now expired). The only difference from the Korean 2-disc seems to be that it lacks DTS.

Is there going to be a German HD release of this?
