PSYCHO 2, 3 and 4 Triple Feature---------> 8/14

It appears that PSYCHO 4: THE BEGININING is FINALLY coming to dvd on 8/14. It will be part of a triple feature including PSYCHO 2 and 3. If u were to guess, do u think Universal will include the same widescreen transfers from the previous editions for parts 2 and 3?

I always thought PSYCHO 4 was pretty good considering it was made for SHOWTIME and it's part 4. The only problem I had with it was the ending. They were supposed to have shot multiple endings for the film, but something tells me we won't be seeing them on this triple feature dvd.

I also like the 4th part a lot and I've been waiting for its release for quite a long time. But recently I knew a Japanese box with all 4 parts exists, so I guess that will be my choice rather than this triple feature box.

Another Fan of part 4 of the series.
I have Psycho 2 already on DVD but i don't have 3 or 4. I have 3 on VHS I can't wait to this comes out!
Double dip only for the 2nd part at least and it was a good enough movie, lets just hope its in widescreen.
knowing Universal it will be in full screen with parts 2 & 3 on a DVD-18 & the 4th part on a single layer.

I don't own any of the sequels, so I'll be picking this up. Thanks for the info!

Of course I picked up 2 & 3, but at least it was cheap enough (maybe $6 or $7 apiece at most). But I'll certainly be getting this anyway for part 4! Hopefully they'll be some worthwhile extras, but as someone else said, I doubt it.

I'm sure the one they put on side 1 will be OK. The 2 they put on side 2 will be compressed to death.

These triple features all suck. People should think twice about encouraging studios to release them.

I have their Tales from the Crypt double feature pack. And I thought the quality was pretty damn good. Since there are no features on either of those two movies besides the trailers. And both movies ran 90 minutes or less. There was more than enough room for the films on one dual layered dvd.

The Paramount Friday the 13th box set with two movies per disc on one side were also of good quality.

I already bought 2 and 3 when they came out the last time. I wish 4 was available individually.

I bought 2 and 3 the last time they came out also. I like 4 and would love to get it but i'll have to wait till it actually comes out to decide what i'll do. Hoping for individual releases also.

I'm so happy, of course I bought 2 & 3 not too long ago when the widescreen versions came out. So I'll sell those.

Was Part IV shot in widescreen?

Universal owns Psycho #1, so why wouldn't they put that one in the set too?

They probably figure they can sell that one on its own more than they can the sequels.

Yeah, the original Psycho is getting a Legacy series release around the same time as Vertigo.

Which explains why they weren't individually re-released a year or two back.

I remember hearing about that a while back. Do you know when that is supposed to come out?

Well, PSYCHO 3 is 93 min. and PSYHO IV is 96 min, so putting these both on one RSDL DVD will stretch the compression, but it won't be *too* bad. The average bitrate *could* be around 5 Mbps is they author it correctly to take advantage of the full 8.5 GB available.

Actually, I think the current releases of PSYCHO 2 & PSYCHO 3 are both RSDL DVDs... So, unless they make this new triple-feature release a DVD18, it means having to have an inferior lower-bitrate version of PSYCHO 3 stuck on the side with PSYCHO IV.

I'm very happy we're finally seeing the fourth part released. It is actually a pretty good film... Perkins is excellent.

I really doubt that this will be a DVD18.

Weren't the Friday the 13th movies all originally released as DVD5's, so putting two per side on a DVD9 wasn't an issue?

PSYCHO 2 is extremely underrated. I really enjoyed that film.

Will be picking this set up for sure.

There were able to put the theatrical version of Return of the King on one duel layer DVD and that movie was 3 hours and 18 minutes. The picture quality didn't suffer (from what I could tell). Plus the Friday the 13th films were done two on one side in the box set. So they could probably make this work without the films suffering in quality. They might get rid of the trailers for those films though. I think the trailers were on the original releases.
