List your most anticipated films for Summer '07
With Spider-man 3 finally kicking off the Summer movie season this week, it's time to see what films everyone will be lining up to watch.
For me,
1. Spider-man 3
-I loved the first 2 and thought they get better as we go along. This one does have a chance of not being as good as the previous films, but it's no doubt my top film to see. Most definitely has a chance to break Pirates 2's 3-day opening record of $135 million.
2. The Bourne Ultimatum
-Love the Bourne series. Identity was good, Supremacy was better. And Paul Greengrass is back for the series' third film. Too bad we have to wait until August. You can thank Jason Bourne as the reason why the Bond producers decided to make 007 a bit more rugged/human for Casino Royale. Supremacy earned $175 million. Utlimatum can definitely get towards $200 million, especially with less competition in August.
3. Transformers
-They were a large part of my childhood. Even though Michael Bay is directing, I still think this one will be entertaining. Like many of the die-hard fans, I'm not completely thrilled will all the cosmetic changes, but I'm just glad we are finally getting a live-action Transformers movie. I think this is the film that could either do really well, or could bomb. It's going to open huge for July 4 weekend, but I wonder how it holds up during weekend #2. Especially with Harry Potter opening that same weekend.
4. Knocked Up
-Seth Rogen was hilarious in "40 Year-Old Virgin", so I'm expecting the same for this movie, which has gotten some great early buzz. This should be the big comedy hit of the Summer, but probably not Wedding Crashers big.
5. The Invasion
-Yeah, there's been production delays/reshoots, which is never a good sign. But I still like my sci-fi, and I'm fans of both Kidman and Craig.

Off the top of my head:
Spidey 3
28 Weeks Later
Ocean's 13
Shrek 3
I was a huge Transformers fan as a kid, but I do not see this transitioning well to live-action. If it doesn't totally suck ass I will be very surprised.

Damn - this may be the most sequel heavy summer I've ever seen! Is there anything original that's going to be a GREAT summer movie?

This Summer is definitely filled with a ton of sequels. I can't remember a time were there are so many part 3's released in one season, especially in the same month. May has Spidey, Shrek, and Pirates by itself. Those are mega franchises.

Spider-Man 3
Sicko
The Simpsons Movie
And in no particular order:
Eagle vs. Shark
Black Sheep
Hostel II
Illegal Tender
Live Free or Die Hard
Rush Hour 3
Transformers
Superbad
Might see (based on word of mouth or reviews):
1408

There's a lot of others. The next film I'm very highly anticipating is The Kingdom. Everything else I don't need to see in theatres, necessarily.
