Fantasy Moguls (New Game on IMDB) (New season starting 8/3)

Edit with new info for Fall/Winter League

Just came across this game on IMDB

Fantasy Moguls

Basically you create a studio, and bet on the box office performance of the summer films. There are 2 games, first is strictly the box office and the second incorporates IMDB score, per screen average and number of weeks in top 5. Could be interesting

I've created a league for both games. The name of the league is "DVD TALK" and you can only have 50 people. Feel free to join, I believe the cutoff date is 11/18/07. Use your user name as your studio name so we know who everybody is.

Hope we can get a few people

Well I'm in, but it took forever. I had to hit refresh several times to get pages to work. Hopefully they get their shit together soon.

I had an account some time ago and I was actively playing it until a couple weeks ago when I can't log in anymore. That sucks because even though I'm a relative newbie by then, I got #2 position on the league.

I loved the Mr. Showbiz Box Office Challenge. I made out with some killer loot from that game (won once, finished second twice). Of course, I was a major nerd with all sorts of spreadsheets and pages of box office printouts to do so, but hey.

I think i played in like 5 different cycles of it. The best i did was 115. Course there was something like a few thousand people playing. The part i liked best was the stock market effect. Everyone started with $150 million but i saw people with at least twice that amount. I just never put in the time to do that.

EDIT: If i remember right the year i got 115 was the year that i made one fatal flaw. I took a chance on Very Bad Things because my brother told me "It's going to be the next "Something about Mary" Oh how wrong he was.

I played fantasy moguls a few months ago with some friends & it's ok. The game I really miss was called Studio Boss & was run twice a year by E! Random leagues of 10 & score based on box office & per screen (usually won by limited release films). They did it twice a year (winter & summer) & I played 7 times & won my league every times. League winners got a coffee mug, t shirt, poster, etc... (different every time) but they had a random drawing for a grand prize. My nephew played one time & he won his league & was drawn for it. Unfortunately it was for a flight for 2 to Universal Studios Florida & 3 days 2 nights at a hotel there plus admission & a limo. Since we lived so close he lost out on the plane fare & we go to Universal all the time. Year before it was a trip to Hollywood (that would've been great). Anybody here ever play E!'s old game? I keep hoping they'll bring it back but they discontinued it about 4 years ago.

So far we have 25/26 people for each league. If you are planning on playing sign up soon. Only 50 people per a league.

Just joined the Box Office one. Gonna try that before going into the ultimate.

Edit: Oh, what the hell, might as well try both.

Well, the season ended for the last game. I was right, not having Bourne did suck, but I came in the dead middle. Not too bad I guess.

We gunna start another one up?

Okay it looks like it's over and once again I didn't win. I came in Third in one and fifth in the other. I've started a new league once again titled "DVD TALK" for both games. The registration will end 11/18, feel free to sign up for both games.
