Kind of a silly list without Usual Suspects or Empire Strikes Back. Hell, even rank the Final Destination bus scene over a few of those. It seems played now, but If anyone saw it in a full theater, you never saw so many people jump at the same time before. It was truly amazing.

15. The Departed - Finale/The Massacre: Wasn't an oh shit moment if you were following the film.
14. Meet Joe Black - Always Look Both Ways: Meh.
13. Reservoir Dogs - Torture/"Stuck In The Middle With You": First one they got right.
12. American Psycho - Hip To Be Square: Yep.
11. Seven - The Final Scene: Yep.
10. Casino - "Is This Your Pen?": Yep.
9. Alien - Chest-burster: Should be higher.
8. Goodfellas - "Now go home and get your fucking shinebox!!!": Not an oh shit moment.
7. Full Metal Jacket - Suicide: The dumbest moment in Kubrick's collected works. Not an oh shit moment but a "shake your head" moment.
6. The Exorcist - Spider Girl: A jump scare, but nothing more.
5. Pulp Fiction - "I just shot Marvin in the face!!!"/"That was Trippy": Definite oh shit.
4. Scarface - Chainsaw: Yep.
3. Misery - Hobbling: Yep.
2. Texas Chainsaw Massacre - Hammer: sure.
1. American History X - Curb Stomp: Definitely.

Seriously missing both The Usual Suspects, The Empire Strikes Back, the end of Audition, most of Ichi The Killer, the end of Ringu.

The chumming/shark rising out of the water/"think you're gonna need a bigger boat" scene in Jaws absolutely must be on any reasonable list.

Oh, and of course, the ending of Pink Flamingos should be number one with a bullet.

hmm.

can't agree with The Usual Suspects (the US ad campain ruined the surprise with their "who is Keyser Soze?" spots, like having somebody tell me I'd never guess the end of The Sixth Sense, I had to figure it out)...yes to the chum scene in Jaws along with the head dropping out of the hole in the boat. Luke losing his hand. Charlton Heston finding the Statue of Liberty. Yes to the bus scene in Final Destination. Yes to Pink Flamigos, but more like a "WTF!" A minor HS! to Robin Williams ramming the back of the car in Garp and to Renée Soutendijk in The 4th Man. Jamie Lee Curtis pulling off her top in Trading Places. Pretty much anytime someone gets hit by an airplane propeller. Or has an eyeball fly into their mouth. Or has their insides slowly pulled out by a zombie.

John Carpenter's Assault on Precinct 13 - the ice cream truck scene
Spoiler:
Has there ever been another movie where a little child is brutally murdered on screen? I was expecting that little girl to somehow get away, but when the dude shoots her in cold blood, I literally did this:

Robocop has plenty of "oh shit" moments too.
Spoiler:
Murphy's death scene and ED-209 shooting up that OCP exec are the two best.

too bad the MPAA had to be dicks and enforce cuts in both of these scenes for the theatrical R-rated cut... now if Verhoeven could find the scenes from Total Recall that were trimmed for the sake of that film's rating.

Why does every top ten movie list have pixelated, blurry, pirated video from youtube for scenes we've all seen a thousand times?
