Meatballs: SE June 5
According to Davisdvd Sony will release a Meatballs: SE w/ Ivan Reitman commentary & a new transfer June 5 for $19.94. It'll also be getting released on blu ray. One of my favorite old Bill Murray movies & I can't wait.

Weird. I thought this was a WB title, not Sony. The imdb.com list the distributors as being Paramount for the theatrical release and HBO (WB) for the DVD release.

Great News! I haven't seen this since it was broadcast on TV in the '80s. One of my all-time favorite cheesy movies, I'll give it a rent to see if it holds up.

I remember as a kid (and my friends) getting all excited to see this... my friends dad drove us over to the theatre... he'd say: "Spaghetti and...." we yell: "Meatballs!!"
ah, sweet memories of youth...

Here's the full excerpt from dvdactive:
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced a new special edition of the Ivan Reitman directed comedy Meatballs which stars Bill Murray in his feature film and starring role debut. The disc will be available to own from the 5th June, and should retail at around $19.94. The film itself has been digitally remastered for the best possible quality picture and sound - presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track. Extras will include an audio commentary with director Reitman, along with a Summer Camp: The Making of Meatballs documentary. A Blu-ray release will be available seperately for around $28.95.
I sold that crappy fullscreen disc a long time ago. It's about time this was released in anamorphic widescreen.

LOL. I avoided this title for years because I thought it was 4:3. It doesn't say anything on the back that it is widescreen if I remember correctly.

Finally! I lost my tape of this a few years ago, and was so desperate to watch it again, I overpayed for a VHS version of it on Ebay, last year. I would've bought the DVD on Ebay, but they were even more expensive.

"I would've bought the DVD on Ebay, but they were even more expensive."
I know. I must have sold 10 copies. Not anymore though. Ebay's been overflowing with them for the past 8 months.
I have a used DVD/CD store that must have had 6 of them stored in back because everytime I came in they had another 2 copies. I kept finding them everywhere.
It is really a movie that does not hold up very well. That is why I sold my first copy.

I bought a copy at Best Buy for $5.99 a while back on a lark since it was so cheap. It didn't hold up for me either but it was nice to get $30 for it on eBay.
