Sharp 32" 1080p "Gaming" LCD
The Sharp Aquos LC-32GP1U!
It looks like somebody FINALLY released an LCD TV that address lag on signals not of naitve resolution. 32" is much smaller than what I want to go with (they have a 37" as well.. still too small) but I'm almost tempted as a few places are shooting these off at under $1200.
Take a look at some pictures:

how much benefit would you actually get having 1080p on a 32" tv though?

Then, try playing that game at 1600x1200 on the same monitor.
Come back with your analysis.

And yes, I get the comparison, and sure, it'll be extremely noticeable up close on some things, but I guess when I see TV I expect it to be in a living room with a reasonable viewing distance.

As I understand it the difference between 1080i and 1080p (and even 720p to 1080p) isn't as noticeable as doubling the resolution on a PC monitor.
Maybe someone more knowledgeable about HD can confirm/disprove.

C'mon. The difference between 800x600 and 1600x1200 isn't close to the difference between 1080i and 1080p, especially on a 32" set.Or even if you want to take the more "realistic" comparison and compare the 1920x1080 resolution of 1080p and compare it to the 1280x720 resolution of 720p, you're still not getting that big a difference (such as would be noticeable)
