Veronica Mars Canceled.

The day we’ve all dreaded has come, tubers.

With actual tears in my eyes, I must tell you that I’ve heard from several solid sources that the CW has decided not to bring Veronica Mars back for a fourth season.

Though official word has not yet come down from the network, I did hear from creator Rob Thomas earlier this week, who told me things weren’t looking good: “I’ve never been less certain of our fate. I’m afraid I’ve gone from cautiously optimistic to something less than that.”

More on this later. I’m just too distraught to write more right now.

Was it ok to post a thread on this, I don't come into this forum much but i'm sure there are other people who enjoy this show as much as I do.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I hope this is a early April Fool's joke.

I need Kristen Bell on my TV screen, Dammit!

Maybe one of the other networks can pick it up? Are you listening, NBC? I see that you're going to have a few slots to fill in for next fall.

FUCK!

Sad to see it go for sure, but I am glad we got as many episodes as we did. They should get rid of that awful Gilmore Girls instead, as it has been run into the ground.

Please tell me that this give Rob Thomas and the writers enough time to atleast tweak the final episode into something resembling a series finale or a season finale (or at the veryleast cut-out the cliffhanger that they had to have had planned).

Well, that sucks, but I'm not totally surprised. I was hoping it would get at least one more season to turn things around, but I guess not. Still, it's not like the CW has much else going for it. VM was the one show I'd watch on the network - now it's got nothin'.

Although its not the main reason, it was definately probably a factor. I'm just not sure if I should blame the 'pussy cat dolls' or American society in general

Great. So now we don't even get a proper Series Finale and CW can launch some crap shows next year. I hope 7th Heavens gets a 18th season.

Random. It hasn't been going against Lost for a while. Hell Idol did more damage.

On the brightside, I won't have to watch the CW ever again.

I blame CW and their crappy ass network.

And where did it say we won't get a series finale?

They better not screw up the third season on DVD either!

Rob Thomas stated he will end Season 3 as he wanted it to. Not making it a Series finale.

I just e-emailed Mars' main man Rob Thomas for an update [on news of a fourth season], and here's what he wrote back: "We're very much on the fence for a fourth season. My amateur handicapping of our situation - 60/40 in our favor. We are shooting the finale as a season finale - not as a series finale. There will be no alternate. If they do try to get rid of us, we're not going to make it easy for them."

I blame myself. I haven't been keeping it with VM this season, although I will pick up the DVD.

Still, I hate to see it cancelled.

If the CW cancels Supernatural on top of this I'm going to be really pissed

Both shows have similar rating numbers, IIRC.

Oh well, sad that VM will be going bye-bye, it was fun will it lasted.

This cancellation really hurts for me. I loved this show since the very first episode and to see it cancelled while other "lesser" shows are still running on CW is a travesty.
However, the writing was on the wall that there wouldn't be a fourth season because of anemic ratings and production costs. I'm glad that we at least got 3 seasons out of it.

Now, just hoping that Rob Thomas is able to change the script for the final episode to give a proper send off to this great show.

Unless you participate in the Nielson Ratings, you really had no impact on this.

I'm so fucking sick and tired of starting a new show only to have it canceled a few seasons into it. I swear, if this shit keeps up I'll just cancel my tv service and just buy dvds.

Ok, I'm done with my angry post now.

how about blaming the fact that the show never caught on? It has had every opportunity to find an audience. People did not want to watch the show. First, it had a short run in the 1st season. Then it aired on UPN after America's Next Top Model which is the number 1 show in the demos for UPN. It even received a brief run on CBS in the summer. Then it got paired with Gilmore Girls on the CW. That move was supposed to put two compatible shows on together. Guess what, it failed to maintain the GG lead in. The PussyCat Doll show is a cheaper show and did marginally better in the ratings than Veronica Mars. The fact is Veronica Mars has had every opportunity to find an audience. It never did and the CW should cancel the show and start over.

It's sounding more and more like that will be gone as well, Melissa McCarthy(Sookie) recently signed on for an ABC pilot.

AICN Hercules has indicated that Veronica Mars has already filmed and completed the remaining five episodes for this season. So unless Rob Thomas decides to reshoot the final episode, there will be no special series finale for the show.
There’s no official word from The CW, but E!’s Kristin Veitch says she has heard from several sources that “Veronica Mars,” my pick for the best TV series of 2006, will not be back for a fourth season.

The final five completed episodes are set to air in April and May.
