DVD Profiler 3.0 is now available

this just crossed my radar today - DVD Profiler 3.0 is now available. apparently the author has formed a new company to release the software. premium subscriptions are carried to the new system, but you do have to re-register and generate a new key. intervocative will continue to support 2.4 and the 2.5 beta and apparently will have its own database. according to one of the FAQs in the new company's forums, the database for 3.0 is being rebuilt. you are able to import your old library, however.

i have not had a chance to test it. just wanted to let everyone know.

Doesn't seem to be ready quite just yet, all of the links from the homepage appear to be broken.

It's working now. Before, it was taking me to a page that was all white except for big letter that had the message. Right now it's taking a while restoring my files.

It doesn't seem to be working for crap right now. Up, down, up, down. I will give it awhile to work itself out before trying to fix up my collection on that, because it is bugging the hell out of me right now.

So, if you're using 2.4, will all the data transfer to the new version? Is it an "upgrade" or a complete replacement?

You need to use the backup feature before you install it. Once installed you just restore your collection.

Oh, to answer your last question...when I installed 2.5 beta, I also still had 2.4. When I installed 3.0, 2.5 went *poof* and 3.0 took it's place.

Why run both? I ran 2.4 and 2.5 but, after a short time, didn't see the point in keeping both.

I am keeping 2.4 until 3.0 seems to work fully and reliably. It has been out for only a matter of hours after all. For instance, can anyone explain why I had 33 unconverted UPC errors when I imported my backed up 2.4 database? But mostly I was pointing out that installing 3.0 doesn't seem to impact 2.4, so there is little risk in trying it in the mean time.

The reason is that DVD Profiler 3.0 has went to using the full UPC code, instead of the middle 12 digits. All you need to do is edit those profiles to change their UPC codes correctly - most profiles will do this automatically, but not all of them.

There's a lot of good info on the forums over there right now. As for the "up and down", it's mainly traffic issues with the new website.

Does anyone know if the Cuecat USB scanner will still work with the new 3.0? I would hate to type in 850+ bar codes.. lol...
