Amazon Unbox now available on TiVo

This thread could easily be put into any forum, but since TiVo gets the most discussion here....

Amazon Unbox is now available on TiVo. If you sign up before the 04/30 deadline, they'll give you $15 of credit.

(You'll have to go to the Unbox page on Amazon, there appears to be a referral link in just copying the url)

Big drawbacks: not anamorphic, no 5.1 sound.

I don't see a lot of point to getting movies at $15 a piece with those drawbacks. But, TV shows are $2 an episode and getting 7 episodes of something for free isn't something I'm going to complain about.

I'm waiting for Dr. Who to be TiVo ready.

Not anamorphic? Pass.

Still, $15 is $15.

I am confused as to why they charge $15 for new releases when your cable/satellite charges less than a third of that (and include 5.1)?

I am guessing because you "own" the movie and can watch it many times?

I am not sure, but this is how I see the program working.

Well techincally you get the movie about a month earlier because PPV movies typically become available a month after DVD releases. Also, if you purchase the movie through unibox I guess it is legal to put it on a DVDR, whereas it is technically illegal to record a movie from PPV...

I can't remember if this has already been posted somewhere else on dvdtalk, but right now there is a promotion through Amazon where you can get a $15 unbox credit when you link your tivo.

So you can buy one movie or rent close to 4.

this should be the link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/video/tivo

It didn't originally link up on my Series 3, but I went into my settings on tivo.com and allowed downloadable content (in case any one else has the same issue.)

Thats what I've been wondering about. Has anyone tried this? Of course like its been pointed out the DVD you would make wouldn't be as good as the one you could buy.
