It's no longer in stock at Amazon, so it's offered through their Marketplace sellers. You're dealing with private sellers.

You can tell this when you see Availability: available through these sellers.

Normally you'll see: Availability: In Stock. Ships from and sold by Amazon.com.

Did it say that it was in stock when you bought it? Right now it's listed as "On Order: Usually Ships in 1 to 2 Weeks" so I doubt they'll have anymore to ship out.

I have never seen this film so I wonder if I should crack this baby open or just sell it.
I bought it to watch it but know I dont know, I also picked up a copy of LOOKER so I guess I will watch that tonight (That was hard to find locally).

If I were you I'd watch the movie, maybe watch the other R1 release or some other way, and then you'll know if you like the movie enough to open up this tin set. If you enjoy the movie like many of us do, you'll want to hold on to the 3-disc tin set for all of those awesome extras.

Either way, if this 3-disc version of Oldboy is OOP, and it looks like that is indeed the case since it doesn't look like it's in stock anywhere online, I don't see it ever hitting DVD again unless they just continue to produce the other R1 release. It would be very, very hard to top this tin set, that's for sure, and I don't see why they'd even want to. Heck, I was shocked when they released the 3-disc tin in R1 in the first place. I totally didn't expect such a treatment for that film in R1.

Thank God they did though, Oldboy is one of my favorite films of all time.

Cool, I think I will open her up and watch it. I have a lot of OOP DVDs like 1984, Phantastic Planet, Pig, ............mostly art films. They seem to go OOP quite fast.

While not impossible, I would highly doubt they would produce the tin again.

Rule of Thumb: Anytime something gets released in special packaging... if you want it, GET IT at release. Why take a chance? Sometimes you win... most times you lose.

Yeah, another recent example of that is the Cinema Paradiso Limited Collector's Edition box set. You can still find it online, but it's going fast as well. If any of you want that one, I highly suggest picking it up before it's too late as well.

Does anyone here live near a retailer that still has this in stock? I didn't realize it would be so hard to find, and now I'm frantically searching for a copy. If someone can help me out, I'll cover all necessary costs.

Buy.com says it's backordered, which (in this case) means they won't be getting any more copies.

I'd be willing to bet that an FYE would still have it in stock.

There aren't any FYEs here. Nor any other DVD retailers, aside from a Wal-Mart and a Hastings. That's why I'm needing to rely on someone else's kind-heartedness in finding a copy.

edit: It does, however, appear to be in stock on FYE's site. I'll give that a shot.

There was an advertisment for this tin last summer in Fangoria that made it sound like all the the films in the Vengeance Trilogy would receive similar treatment. I've been waiting for announcements on those since then!

DVDAF listed this at around $24 at Amazon a couple of days ago. I didn't think much of it until I realized it was a great deal. But when I went to see if it was still there, it was gone.

I want to wait a couple days to see if my FYE order does indeed ship. If it doesn't, would you be willing to pick a copy up for me, if one is available?

edit: A new copy is what I'm looking for.

I'm glad I got mine when I did, I'm pretty sure if I had opted out of it then I wouldn't have bought it by now and would be regretting it.

Damnit, i knew Borders here had one because i saw it last time i was in there, so i checked the website today and it said they still had it. But when i got there it was gone, so which one of you guys beat me to it?
surely it was someone from this forum that read this thread, otherwise that would be a big coincidence.
