Bond sets at Costco

Checked back at the Costco today. Most interesting was a new batch of Bond sets tagged $43- the price they had temporarily in December after a $10 instant rebate. These were sitting beside the leftovers from previous shipments, still with the old price of $53 on them.

Good price for those still looking.

Welcome to 2 weeks ago. They are going to be at a better price starting tomorrow, when they have $10 off $43.99, for a final price of $33.99.

They're not currently available online. This isn't an instant rebate, it's an actual coupon that must be give to the cashier, so you wouldn't be able to get the $10 off online. You would also have to pay shipping. Your best bet would be to get someone near a Costco to pick up a copy for you and reimburse them the shipping.

The coupon says "Also available at costco.com," although I'm not sure how you enter a coupon at their site.

Costco.com typically deducts the coupon amount automatically during the time period that the coupon is active. The downside, as already mentioned, is that you usually have to pay shipping.

I got Volume 4 for $33.99 after coupon. Its funny that the James Bond DVDs were not displayed, and were actually underneath the table where dvds were displayed. Should have waited for this sale before I grabbed the first three! Oh well....

...And I'll promise to myself that I'll never buy a newer James Bond Set again, even if it were a Super Special Ultimate Edition ; )

Think Costco will let me match their price from 2 weeks ago? Be nice to get $20 back.

They probably will, but if they don't, then just buy it now with the coupon and return it with your receipt from 2 weeks ago.

How do you get a coupon? Are these available when you walk into the store? Or are they mailed to Costco members? Do you need 4 coupons if you want to get all 4 sets, or does one coupon cover them all?

They are mailed to members. However, you can usually find them at the store(at the Member's Services desk, at the register, discarded coupon sheets inside shopping carts, etc). The door person will also sometimes hand them out as you enter the store. There's no limit for the coupon, so 1 coupon is all that you'll need.

Picked up #3 and 4 today. Had to tell the cashier to scan the coupon twice as it's "unlimited." Make sure they don't just take $10 off if you buy multiple sets.

I picked up #1 and #2.

Great deal. They were marked 53.89, rang up 43.99 then 10.00 off each set. They had 2 boxes full, with most of them being volumes 1 and 2. They only had 1 copy of volume 4.

Sorry. Didn't see your post 2 weeks ago informing of a $10 price reduction on the Bond sets before the coupon was applied. Must have missed it.

No need to apologize. Sometimes we need new threads to inform us of particularly hot deals. I'm sure a lot of Bond fans would have missed it in the regular Costco thread.

Now I'm assuming you have to BE a member of Costco to take advantage of this. Or is there a loophole around that ???

I think that you can get a 1 day pass. However, you'll have to pay 5%(I think that it's 5%, not completely certain) more for your purchases. You might want to ask any DVD Talker in the RI area to hook you up. In the past, I've bought box sets for fellow DVD Talkers and met them in front of the store to exchange the sets for what I paid.

Thanks SBJ for the 1-day-pass hint. I'll have to break out the calculator to see if the 5 or whatever percent still keeps the price interesting.

Well, you could join and then quit up to 364 days later and get all your money back.

True. However, my local Costco sells gas too and usually at 15 to 20 cents cheaper a gallon than anywhere else.
