Babel 2 disk?

I see this only advertised in the Circuitcity sales paper. No other stores has it for sale. Is this only for Circuitcity and does anyone know whats on it. It's listed in the paper for 2 disk collectors edition for 22.99. I don"t see it advertised on the circuitcity site either. Is it worth getting?

I'm sure that's an error. A 2-disc will likely show up later, especially if Babel can win Best Picture. The featureless 1-disc is all we're getting for now, al la Flags of Our Fathers.

Could it be a movie/cd soundtrack combo?

Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and hold out for a 2 disc SE because it's bound to happen. I can't believe they couldn't even throw in a measly featurette for this.

Why so sure there will be a 2-disc or special edition later? As I recall, Iñárritu's previous movie "21 Grams" got a special edition that was as far from "special" as you could get...

Because it's inevitable after it wins an oscar or more. Paramount has become just a much a double dipper as Universal and Fox now.

21 grams didn't have much for features because Universal is cheap, and didn't fork over any $, reportedly Alejandro had plenty of stuff for this.

And his previous effort, Amores Perros did have a decent amount of extras.

I'll doubt the HD DVD will be re-released so I will stick with what I have now.

I went ahead and got the dvd. The audio/video quality won't be changing anytime soon.

I mentioned this in another thread about the 2-disc: Iñárritu said in an interview that he had plenty of bonus features for Grams, clearly Universal's already-existing featurette is not "plenty of bonus features". I still wonder if perhaps, given their good relationship, Universal is planning to license the film to Criterion and the recent CE was just one last bid at squeezing a few bucks out of the title (ala Dazed and Confused - Flashback Edition).

There was a 2-disc set originally announced but it appears to have disappeared off the charts.

So, this got shafted last night. 2-disc SE still coming? I don't think it will happen now, at least not right away.

I ended up getting the first release, and won't be dipping into this again. Will be interesting to see how well the new release sells, 6 months after all the hype.

I held off on the original because I knew this would be coming. Also because I wasn't too impressed with the film when I saw it theatrically, but after watching it again from Netflix I enjoyed it quite a bit more. Enough to get the 2-disc, probably.

Seems as though you guys have to wait til the end of Sept - we (and a few other regions) already have the 2 disc version of BABEL. In any case - the only extra is an 80+min documentary.

Common Ground: Under Construction Notes - a comprehensive feature length making-of video diary from director Alejandro González Iñárritu

I just picked up the current release a couple of days ago figuring that the 21Grams scenario would be in effect... but an 80 minute documentary sounds appealing, perhaps this will wind up being a double dip.

Oh well.

I've got the single disc and ended up being underwhelmed by the movie. It was a great concept that had it's moments. I just felt every scene ended up being dragged out just a little too long. By the end I kept looking at the clock wishing it would hurry up and end. He easily could have trimmed numerous scenes by several seconds each without losing the meaning and shorten the film by 10 minutes or so.

I doubt they'll release it on that. The best we could do is to somehow get the second disc to make our own SE.
