TMNT Coming Out Of Their Shells Tour ???

Ok, for those who remember...the Coming out of theif shells tour. Cross promoted with Pizza Hut (They gave out tour guides). Wonder if this will hit dvd ever...with a new movie on the horizon, seems like the time would be now. I have never even seen these pop up in the bootleg bins at comic shows....does anyone have interest in a legit release? It was released on video, as well as a half hour making of as a stand alone...they combines both tapes to make the lower tape

I had the Making of The Tour VHS and it was laughably bad; it made Spinal Tap seem like geniuses. I kinda regret getting rid of it a few years back.

I had one of the VHS and the soundtrack, and I still do actually. But I don't think it'll ever hit DVD.

My dad knew someone who worked at Pizza Hut who got me tickets to one of the shows. I was 11 or 12 at the time and I realized the show was too "kiddy" to go see so I gave the tickets to the kid next door.

I think I have the cassette sitting around someplace. Still not sure how they wore the turtle outfits and sang at the same time.

Interesting note: The song "Pizza Power" is use for the ending credits theme for "TMNT: Turtles in Time"...which is the single best Turtles game ever.

I remember renting that video when I was around 4...I remember there was a kid who pronounced Leonardo funnily.

That was my first concert! I just checked when it was, it was in 1990, so I was 8 at the time, and I was a huge turtles fan. I remember having the cassette from Pizza Hut and listening to it, I don't know if I have it anymore though. Even though it's been probably 10 years or more since I've heard it, I still remember a couple songs, like skipping stones and April Ballad. I never had any VHS releases though, but I'd love to see it for old time's sake I seriously doubt this would get any kind of legit DVD release.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who found that cover to be disturbing.

I had the soundtrack and vhs - saw the show as well. I was diehard TMNT fan, so I had to check it out...haven't thought about this in YEARS...not sure if I still have the vhs, but I'll have to at least track it down now.

Here's the problem with a release of this, there needs to be enough people to buy it. Will somebody in some office somewhere sit down and decide it's worth the money and effort to make this on DVD? Not sure, but I've seen weirder things happen. I'll hae to go with 'no' though, still.

agreed. It seems that if it happens, it would be this year, as the turtles will be at a new height of popularity with a new movie. If the new film is a success, then they will be looking for every possible way to make a buck off of it. I'm not sure who has the distribution for this titles, what shape the masters are in, who owns the actual songs etc. I only hoped to bring it back into the eye and see if anyone else had any desire to own this.

Its pretty schlocky, to my adult eyes, but I would like to have it, if only to allow my children the chance to see it.

I found myself thinking about this the other day, as a matter of fact. I remember liking quite a few songs when I was younger. Particularly, Splinter's song "Skipping Stones"

I think its the eyes.

How the hell *did* they sing and play wearing those turtle outfits?

Were the turtle heads robotic and someone sang behind the curtain or what?

I imagine it was all on tape. ala milli vanilli, and most other major pop acts these days.

Nah, ya think?

Sorry, not to be a wise ass, but it's obvious they're just brushing their arms up against the guitars and not actually doing anything.

Wow! I remember this too. I know I hade the Making Of VHS (might still have it) and I think I had the soundtrack cassette. I never much cared for those concert costumes as a kid.

My brother & I actually got my Mom to buy it on Pay Per View back in the day for like $20. The best part was during it there is a part where the Turtles go into hiding and it seems Shredder has won. The screen goes to a still of a turtles screen and stayed on it for about 30 minutes (break for the kids at the concert I guess). Then it suddenly came back on. During the still screen it kept playing a loop of kids chanting "turtles, turtles".
