Gun (X360) -- Is it any good

I don't really need a new game -- I'm currently dividing what little free time I have among four different ones -- but I saw Gun for 20 bucks and the boxlooked intriguing enough that I picked it up and brought it home. Before I crack the shrinkwrap -- is it any good?

Absolutely, well worth the $20 bucks and then some. The graphics aren't up with Gears of War or Lost Planet but the game is very fun.

Playing it on the PS2 and really enjoy it. Has a pretty good story and I really enjoy the gameplay. Controls are solid and the horse-riding feels right (to me, at least).

That is a huge understatement. The game was designed for the PS2 hardware and was a straight port to the 360 with no enhancements whatsoever. So the graphics are on level with your average PS2 game.

The game is still very very good despite the "ugly" graphics. It is one of the few games that actually has a good storyline. There are a quite a few different minigames. It is basically GTA in the Wild West, except that it is not nearly as massive in size as GTA. You can complete the entire game plus all sidequests in maybe 10-12 hours.

The main character is voiced by Thomas Jane. I didn't even realize that while I was playing because it really does not even sound like him. I read about it after I already finished the game.

Really good game. Do a search in the main 360 thread and you will see some postings there from a couple of weeks ago when I was playing it. Lots of easy achievements as well.

I tried to do a search, but the stupid 3-letter rule got in the way!

Anyway, thanks everyone for the advice -- it sounds like Gun is a keeper. Now I just need to tear myself away from Oblivion, Ultimate Alliance, Lost Planet, and Hitman long enough to play it!

Yep, I liked it a lot more than most. It's not GoW, but I don't think it's ugly either. You can play at your own pace and there's a lot of extra stuff to keep interested in. I wish I would have kept it, but I'm stuck underneath the pile of unplayed stuff as it is.

I know Walmart in Canada has been selling it for $18.93 for months now (as well as Dead Or Alive 4)

It's $29.99 at Wal-Mart here, or at least that is what it is marked on the shelf.

I played it on the PC and enjoyed it quite a bit, even though the PC version has some frame rate problems. I've played games with much better graphics like FEAR, Doom 3 and Half Life 2 with HDR and haven't had the issues Gun had. But I think it is well worth $20.
