Where did this doctor come from? Prior to this, Kottle's been portrayed as the only doctor in the fleet, but suddenly there's this other guy. And for that matter, it was my impression through the first two seasons that Kottle was a civvy, but since New Caprica he's been wearing a uniform.

I'm hoping that this serves the purpose of letting us all know that Helo has a good head on his shoulders and to not discount him.
Hopefully that will be tested in the upcoming eps.
If not, this was a waste.
And once again, even though in the background for 3 seconds, Kara pisses me off with her little looks and grimaces. Apollo kisses Dualla and Starbuck shoots them a look like, "Get a room!"
Meanwhile she'd frak the Galactica Men's Swim Team on a stage if she felt like it. Public displays of affection have never scared her off before.
Kara is a bitch-whore.

Every season there's been one lame cliche-filled episode with fairly predicatable progressions where some character or other learns a Valuable Lesson. This was this season's inevitable entry. It wasn't too bad, though. Better than 'Scar', anyway.
After the last two great episodes, I guess the writers needed a rest.

I thought that the filler ep that Jane Espanson wrote a while back was bad, but this was worse. Helo is nothing more than a background character, and to waste an entire episode on filler material for a background character is pointless.
There was all of one good scene in the show, and that was Baltar & Six.

I don't consider Helo a background character. Hell, this season he's had more screen time than Starbuck.
I wouldn't mind more Helo, either. He's one of the few 'good' characters we have left.

Did anyone catch the "bonus scene" that played prior to the credits? In it, Helo admits to Adama that he prevented the infection of the Cylon race that they attempted in an earlier episode this season.

That would have given the episode quite a different ending. I found it strange that Adama would let Helo off the hook. I'm glad they cut that. However, I wonder whether the producers consider this scene to have actually happened in the show's chronology.

I agree. Terrible. Just watched this and almost deleted the episode off the DVR less than halfway through. It was painfully obvious how it was going to end. The only reason I stuck it out was in hopes there would be at least a decent scene that existed outside the episode plot. Barely even that.
This is two terrible episodes in a row for me, and makes me actually feel a little indifferent to the news that it's been picked up for 13 eps of season four. For what? More of this? No thanks.

Well it looks like everyone hated this ep, but I loved it. Helo is one of the few characters I actually like and care about in the series. Having an episode almost to himself was awsome. He is the one chatacter that stands up for what he believes in and tries to do the moral thing, even if it is not always popular.

Wow, am I watching the same series? I've always been a Helo fan, and I've always felt he's made some difficult choices that weren't always the easy ones, but definitely needed to be done. Maybe the ending was predictable, but sometimes when telling a story, you need to remind the viewers of how some stories are supposed to end.
I also thought it was great to see more of Colonial culture and society, I don't think we've ever seen a racial divide so harshly drawn as against the Sagitarrons before. It was especially good to see Tigh come around. He's always been a hardass, but if he's shown the truth, he's not one to pretend the emperor has no clothes.
As for the title, I think a comma would help, as in "The woman, King"

I didn't think this episode was too bad. Helo is about the last good person left in the fleet and I like him for that. If we had seen more of the colonial culture before this episode it probably would've been a lot better.

I don't understand all the bitching about this season. Maybe the romance between Apollo and Starbuck is a bit much, but I havent seen an episode this season that has been flatout bad. Not one.

Is it just me, or did everyone (except for Helo) seem to come off as an even bigger asshole than usual?
Even Doc Cottle was acting like a first-class prick for most of the episode.
Sort of made me understand why the Cylons would want to wipe tham all out.

I also didn't think this was a horrible episode; not the best, but not awful either. Not bad for a self-contained episode, but I think it was hampered by the fact that the main storyline was too weak just on its own. It might have been better if we had seen more of what else was happening in the fleet to put what was happening on Galactica into some perspective.
I didn't mind the idea behind the episode, but it just was too obvious a message. Usually, the writers do a better job of couching current events into the backdrop of the BSG universe; this one could have been an episode of ER with just a few changes in the script (changing the Sagitarons to Jehovah's Witnesses or something similar). The message felt too forced and I doubt we will ever hear of Sagitarons again and we will probably never see that doctor again either, so overall it really has no bearing in the rest of the series.
