LOTR Releases...

This has been discussed before but by far, the extended editions. The extended editions add a LOT of footage into the films that really make these films that much better. You're talking between the three films, an addition of an average of 45 minutes or so to each. Once you watch the extended, you'll never want to go back. The quality is amazing, and they're four disc sets for each flick, and their pricing at this point in time is pretty darn reasonable. Go for the four disc extended edition sets, you can't go wrong.

I kinda just got the urge to get this too. It's just how long is it until they are in HD? I'm trying to decide which would be a better buy, the LOTR Platinum Collection for $65 or the Ultimate Superman for $70. (I know that the LOTR Platinum is $56 on DDD, but I have an Amazon credit).

The Extended Editions, and in their original releases 4 disc releases not the newer release with the EE and Theatrical cuts crammed on the same discs as those have worse pic quality and now DTS IIRC.

LOTR extended editions are my favorite DVDs I own
brilliant picture and sound...multiple great commentaries...DTS...Extras galore...beautiful, tasteful packaging...added scenes that generally make the films even better...just a terrific product.
