Bad news for 30 Rock fans, REALLY bad news for Studio 60 fans

I haven't seen this posted here yet, but forgive me if it has:

NBC is giving midseason drama "The Black Donnellys" a plum timeslot, scheduling the skein to air Monday nights after frosh hit "Heroes."
"Donnellys," a crime drama from the "Crash" duo of Paul Haggis and Bobby Moresco, will premiere at 10 p.m. March 5. It replaces "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," which NBC said will return "later this season on a date to be determined."

Peacock originally planned to air "Donnellys" on Thursday nights at 10 beginning in January, resting "ER" for several months. Net changed its mind after "ER" started off the season with strong numbers.

Meanwhile, NBC has also found a home for "Andy Barker, P.I.," the new Andy Richter laffer from exec producers Conan O'Brien and Jonathan Groff. "Barker" will get a five-week run at 9:30 Thursdays beginning March 15.

Laffer "30 Rock," which airs in that slot, will return April 19.

That's too bad about 30 Rock, I wish they had moved Scrubs instead, but I'm glad the Andy Richter show will see the light of day.

I had already accepted that Studio 60 wouldn't get another year. I was hoping that we'd still get to see the rest of this season though.

I think it's a safe bet that 30 Rock will get at least one more season. Alec Baldwin just won the Golden Globe and SAG Award for the show, and NBC seems determined to turn Thursdays into "Must-See" TV again.

Don't forget, The Office had HORRIBLE ratings it's first season...it came very close to being cancelled. Kudos to NBC for sticking with it. And while 30 Rock isn't my cup of tea (I don't find it funny), I'm sure NBC is going to stick with it for a while longer.

I think Studio 60 is toast though.

Counts current Andy Richter shows... 0.

I'm ecstatic to hear that his new show finally found a timeslot. I've been looking forward to it for ages.

While I sort of liked the Black Donnelly's (saw the pilot last summer), I have no idea who the target audience is for that show. I just don't think it's got that wide audience appeal to it. But I'm not against seeing Olivia Wilde on a weekly basis, though...

I see this as being the last year for Scrubs, and 30 Rock is a funny show, and like others have said baldwin's award will help keep it on air for next year.

I don't see this statement as really affecting 30 Rock which would eventually have to air repeats prior to finishing the season in May. So instead of reruns, NBC gives it a 5 week hiatus to test out the Andy Richter show... here's hoping is it miles better than Quintuplets.

Perhaps I'm mistaken here, didn't Richter have another failed show before "Controls the Universe..."?

No, he had a failed one after Controls the Universe, a conventional laugh track sitcom called "Quintuplets" on FOX.

No more Studio 60? That blows. It was 1 of only 2 network series I even watch anymore (the other being House). That really bites. My TV entertainment is slowly dwindling down to nothing nowadays (Ghost Hunters is in limbo, the NBA is pretty much unwatchable, American Idol is getting old). Ugh.

Your post could be interpreted two ways:

1) I don't think 30 Rock is funny.

2) What the heck is "laffer"?

If the former, I'm afraid we disagree. If the latter, go here

"laffer" = a comedy

One of Variety's made up words it loves to use. (comedy = makes you laugh = laugher = laffer)

I love 30 Rock but Andy Richter Controls the Universe is one of my all time favorite comedies. So heres some hope his new show is solid, Quintuplets was awful.

Don't watch "Studio 60" and am glad "The Black Donnellys" is getting the post-"Heroes" slot. Been eagerly awaiting this one. . .
