2006 album I missed, Los Lobos: The Town and the City
Los Lobos' "Kiko" is one of my favorite albums of all time and has been for years.
Los Lobos' 2006 release "The Town and the City" is probably that album's equal in quality and also is a return to its signature psychedelic Latin rock sound. Some of the tracks are more traditionally Mexican (check out the great "Luna") others are more straight rock ("The City"). There's laid-back California folk rock ("The Valley") and even a little country-rock ("If You Were Here Tonight"). Overall it sounds like a mature album made by established artists who know exactly what they want. They really nail everything they attempt.
Anyway, it's a fabulous album, there's not a bad track on it. If you're a fan of "Kiko", it's a must buy. It would be in my top ten list for last year, not sure how I missed it...

I should give it another listen. I'd definitely put Los Lobos in my top bands of the 80's (plus Kiko), but I've been a little underwhelmed with them and The Latin Playboys over the past decade or so. I have heard this recording one time, but wasn't knocked out... I'll give it another go.
