House - "One Day, One Room" - 1/30/2007

One Day, One Room
Original Air Date: Jan 30, 2007

Synopsis:
Spoiler:
While House is forced to work full-time in the clinic and deal with a rape victim who insists on confiding with him, Cameron deals with with a terminal cancer patient trying to take advantage of her state of mind.

Just started watching, and I agree with Patman's assessment. Great writing, and some very funny stuff.

I really liked this episode, crisp dialogue, and the clinic stuff was hilarious (especially when House yields the $10 because of the hottie female patient that shows up in the challenge set up by Cuddy). The blonde girl that kept making House dig deep was very easy on the eyes.

This episode was fantastic.

Great quote from House: "If you believe in eternity, nothing that happens in life is relevant."

The girl's counter to that by saying something like, "If you don't believe in eternity, then everything that happens here is irrelevant," was pretty nice too.

Another ep that took a break from the normal formula, and was fantastic as a result. What a great, great show.

Hugh's starting to show his age a bit more these days.

^ I concur.. My fave House episodes are always those that get real philosophical and also force House to so reluctantly reveal some small detail about himself in the process.

David Shore wrote this episode, and he usually does a bang-up job (being the creator of the show, and all).

Plenty of great interplay between House and the girl. Great episode.

These types of episodes are made much more effective if they are a rare occurrence.

I thought it was a darn good episode with the back-and-forth philosphy talk, and the the break from the usual plot lines, but I agree that I think it works best when it doesn't happen too often. My favorite episode like that is the one with the 3 people with injured legs where he lectures a diagnostics class. Anyway, glad to see it back on!

Superb way to come back after being off for a few weeks. I figured House was going to up for some clinic time and that it would lead to comedy gold. We got a lot more than that.

I think this is one of the top 5 episodes of the series. I thought it was that good.

I did not care much for the episode, thought they were spoon feeding us House tidbits...

Another reason I liked the ep is that it gave us a break from the supporting cast for the most part.

Didn't really like this ep. at all. While I liked parts of the exchanges between girl/House, I was really ticked at the end where he comes in and says "She terminated. She's going to be fine." It would've been much better, I thought, for her to remain equally strong in her beliefs as House is in his unbelief, instead of her just caving to House's "kill your rape baby" philosophy. The whole thing just fell flat for me (though I did laugh when House opened the clinic door, saw the hot chick, and told Cuddy her owed her $10.)

I loved this episode, if only because it showed a connection between House and a patient. It was not what I was expecting.

Can anyone help me with the song at the end? I deleted to fast and cant remember any of the lyrics and the title isnt up on the web site yet.

Loved the episode.

Loved the jousting between the hot blonde and house.

I liked the cameron/dying patient angle.

I think we will see blonde girl turn up again..only because she was so hot. heh.

I also loved this episode. One of the best from this season, if not the entire series. Really great writing.

Highest Rated House of all time?

From RichC2 over at the primetime ratings thread:

Idol” averaged 33.3 million total viewers last night and “House” pulled 27.8 million as the two shows demolished the competition for the evening.

Those ratings are from MediaLife which tends to jump the gun a little, so I wouldn't be surprised if it comes down a little. That said, it still scored a monstorous viewer base, and yes, was the highest rated episode of House to date. (And possibly ever, that's going to be a tough score to beat.)

I can appreciate what they were trying to do but I just couldn't buy into either patient. They both seemed custom designed to probe House/Cameron without having any real character of their own. Plus the girl was so hot it was distracting.
