If You Were an Oscar Voter...

I started a thread a while back based on who you thought the Academy would nominate for Oscars. I thought it might be fun to just focus on what each one of you would select for the five Best Picture nominess if you were an eligible Academy member. If I were an Oscar voter, I would nominate the following five pics...

1. "Letters from Iwo Jima"
2. "Little Children"
3. "Pan's Labyrinth"
4. "The Queen"
5. "United 93"

My eventual selection for the winner would be, without question, "Letters from Iwo Jima," which moved me greater than any film I saw in 2006. I think it's Clint Eastwood's most accomplished picture.

Don't know the 5 I would nominate, but I would pick Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest or United 93 as the winner..

I thought Pan's Labyrinth was the best movie since SE7EN.

Just me; and I'm sure the Academy will fellate itself.

Let's see:

Children of Men
The Departed
Little Miss Sunshine
The Queen
Borat

With the win ideally being Children of Men, The Queen, or The Departed (in that order).

(Note: I have not seen Little Children or Pan's Labyrinth).

United 93 and Babel would be nominated heavily elsewhere.

United 93
Letters From Iwo Jima
Apocalypto
Children of Men
Babel

And United 93 would easily take my vote for Best Picture.

Borat
Children Of Men
The Departed
Rocky Balboa (I loved it the way most of you love Casino Royale!)
World Trade Center

I'd cast my vote for Borat... I haven't laughed that hard in YEARS.

If I were an Oscar voter I'd probably be:

1. an L.A. gardener/landscaping person
2. a maid
3. a child of a celebrity
4. a friend of an actor
5. anyone totally unqualified to pass judgement on film
