Any idea if this is available in stores?
I'd like to pick up NYPD Blue, Hill Street Blues, Murder One, Arrested Development, Outer Limits and a couple X-Files...

Shit, nice post DisneyDVD... Thanks.

I'm in for The Outer Limits Original Series Volumes 1 and 2 for $44.20 shipped with tax... That's still over $17.00 cheaper than DDD during their 20% sales. Of course, with my luck, next week they'll be B1G1 at DDD.

Well, since Wal-mart stores will accept returns from the web (or so I've been told), if you aren't itching to watch the shows you could sit on them for a bit, maybe until the return date passes, to see if a better deal appears elsewhere

Don't be fooled with the X-Files, they have the big-pack in the pictures, but the description says the sets were released on 6/6/06, which I believe is when the Slim-Packs were released.

But they are essentially the same, right? Just slimmer? I've started collecting the thin ones anyway, so to continue to get them with a g/c from Christmas wouldn't worry me.

I heard the slim is without as many extras, and I have no problem with that, I actually just bought seasons 1-9 and the movie from Best Buy 2 days ago, that's a huge Blind Buy for me, haha.

Yes, the new slim packs are missing some of the special features. Not on all seaons if I recall, but on most.

I'm pretty sure every season has one disc devoted to extras. The thinpaks eliminated this extra disc altogether.

There are still deleted scenes and commentaries on the other discs though.

I noticed some seasons on Wal-Mart.com have 7 discs, while others have 6. So is that how you can tell the difference between the old and slim?

No because some seasons had fewer episodes requiring fewer discs.

Good Luck with the original outer limits series!!! I would love to own these and be able to view them BUT both the first and second seasons have SERIOUS Playback prolems, and I went through several copies and returns and never got ones that played correctly!!! Unless if someone knows if they fixed this, I would be very careful with those poorly produced sets by MGM-

was under the impression that the slims had a max of 6 discs each, and the seventh was the bonus disc. So, 7 discs should be the older flip out versions.

Yeah, I read about the reported problems with Outer Limits over at DVDVerdict in their review... But, in the same review it was stated that the copies they received for review worked fine with no problems. So, we'll see.

Slim packs or not, I still remember when the X-Files came out several years ago at the original MRSP of $150!
