The new Celtic Frost is pretty amazing. Probably their best. Dave Grohl said it was the "metal comeback album of the decade" or something like that, and I tend to agree.
Sodom definitely deserves to be in there too. As does Slayer, Mastodon, the Sword and the Melvins. A good year for metal in general, in my opinion.

Lamb of God
Slayer and
Dragonforce
are the only albums on there that are good and Slayer was a slight dissapointment.
there were soooooo many great metal albums this year that were more deserving.
If it were strictly a Metal list, Strapping Young Lad- the New Black, and Shadows Fall - Fallout From The War need ti be on there (although Fallout was mostly B sides and unreleased material, its incredible)
If you figure hard rock into the list, it is a joke. Where are Rob Zombie, Lacuna Coil, Buckcherry, Black Stone Cherry, Bullets and Octane ect ect.

I haven't heard all the albums on the list, but from what I have heard, I agree. Lamb of God really delivered, as did The Sword. Slayer & Mastodon were- while good, not as satisfying as previous efforts for me.

I don't care for most of those bands (for what it's worth). I though Krisiun's "Assassination" was most excellent.....although probably too underground to be considered.

I totally forgot about that Kataklysm album. That one is truly great. As a drummer, metal provides so much killer shit that I don't think the well will ever run dry. I'll have to check out a couple of those albums I haven't heard. I was a huge fan of Doc (former Vader drummer) and haven't heard the new guy other than that Art of War ep.

Wow, I'm really out of the loop. I didn't know that Sodom and Celtic Frost had new albums out. I'll have to check them out.

Ooh, nice that Gojira ranked so high! It's a fantastic disc. Also good to see the Melvins, Sword, and Isis on there. There are few choices that seem seriously random and/or awful, but I won't complain much.
