DVD Talk review of 'Venus'
I read Brian Orndorf's DVD review of Venus at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=25749 and... I thought that his review was understandable enough but shallow in the extreme. Come back in twenty or thirty years, Mr. Orndorf, and tell us if all your desires and feelings toward sexual objects have abated.
My guess is that they will not have.
Maurice answers your question, and Ian's handily, when he explains what he does for Jessie, at his age. He's "nice" to her, unlike Ian, her mother, or her loutish boyfriend.
And that is what makes VENUS one of the best films of this year, and why Peter O'Toole should receive an Oscar Nomination.
Whether he does or not, your neglect of Jody Whitakker's performance suggests why your reviews appear here, instead of in a more professional venue. Without the work of this new player, VENUS indeed would not work. But it does.
Pay no attention to Mr. Orndorf, fans. Go see VENUS!
