Twin Peaks Season 1 = Big Money...

Just found out about this...Twin Peaks Season 1 dvd set is going for BIG money these days, especially on Amazon. It is going for over $200 on Amazon, if now is not the best time to sell then when will it be right? With the complete series being released (hopefully) next year it would be nice to make a nice profit on this set...Any thoughts?

With the second season due out next year, I can't imagine they aren't going to re-release this.

How important is Twin Peaks to you? How happy are you with the current Season 1 set? How bad will you feel when the plans for next year's release fall through and you don't have the season 1 set anymore? What if next year's release of season 1 has omissions/flaws not found in the current release?

The answer to those questions will help you decide whether to sell or not. If you are going to sell, it should be now.

For me personally, TWIN PEAKS ranks up there with THE PRISONER as my all-time favorite TV show. And is only one of a half-dozen TV shows that I need to own the complete series. (Lost In Space, Star Trek:TOS, Prisoner, Time Tunnel, Friday 13th: Series, and Twin Peaks)

I would much rather miss out on the winfall of selling season 1 than miss out on owning the series. But that's me.

Is anyone really buying them for $200 though? Seriously there's one on ebay at the moment for $75. I don't think anyones shelling out 200 for this, besides couldn't you just get some other region too?

I'll bet dollars to doughnuts, the DTS soundtrack gets dropped if/when re-released.

From what I read on another board the sellers are putting them up for sale for well over $100 on Amazon and they are selling fast. It seems people are more comfortable buying the set on Amazon than Ebay and they don't mind paying more for a legit one...

These don't look like they are going on Amazon, the same ones have been listed for a while. I'm guessing the people on this "other board" are stretching the truth

If they were fetching 1000 i'd never sell mine. I love Twin Peaks too much to give it up.

- sell your current copy
- buy a region free dvd player (i got one for $40)
- buy the region 2 version of season 1 with the pilot episode

as for season 2, via lynchnet.com:

Twin Peaks Season 2 US DVD Official

Well, after years of waiting, it's finally happening. Paramount has officially announced the release of season 2 of Twin Peaks here in the US. Mark your calanders, April 10, 2007 is the big day. Unlike in Europe, the second season will be released in one set instead of two.

The original first season had DTS audio. Has Paramount confirmed that season two will have DTS sound? I'm very happy with the first season set and will keep it in my collection.

Apparently not: "This long-awaited complete second season release will include English DD5.1 Surround and the original 2.0 audio alongside an optional Spanish dub."

Sadly, it seems DTS is becoming a thing of the past.

BTW - I'm interested in purchasing the R1 First Season set (at a reasonable price) if anyone has an extra, or is willing to part.

Got the set. I've watched this once. Saw the series as it aired. I like, but I'm fine with whatever basic version is released in the next 10 years, if any.

Gonna check prices, if this is a draw, my set is going up ASAP. My replay value is pretty small on this one.

And be locked in to keeping around a crappy region-free player.

Not to mention the annoying 4% PAL speedup.

I seriously doubt it. As I said in the S2 thread, has Paramount ever had a decent, feature loaded release (like Artisan's S1 set) right out of the gate? I expect this set to be relatively bare bones compared to S1.
