I have yet to hear one good word about Eragon from critics or moviegoers - but there you go...

Wow, I really thought Charlotte was going to take the win this weekend. It had great reviews and what looked to be a lot of momentum behind it. I've got a feeling Eragon is gonna drop big time, though, with word of mouth not being so hot.

that can still happen, cause kids movies normally do well on sat and sunday. Also with Eragon having really poor word of mouth, charlotte could take second place.

At least eight!

Really surprised at Happyness, even though it's Will Smith didn't think it'd open big for some reason.

I'm not surprised by Happyness' opening. Smith is a mega super star who's films usually open well. Casino Royale is closing in on Die Another Day. Needs about $22.5 million to pass it in the US. It should pass the international total after this weekend as it has been doing great business overseas.

Schools are out and people start vacations next week, Casino Royale has a great chance of beating Die Another Day.

Paramount also opened the acclaimed musical "Dreamgirls" in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco ahead of its national rollout on Christmas Day. The film grossed a staggering $360,000 from 21 screenings, though the tally was boosted by the $25 ticket price. Jamie Foxx, Eddie Murphy and newcomer Jennifer Hudson star in the adaptation of the Broadway musical loosely based on the story of the Supremes.

I'm not surprised Happyness did so well. Smith's Hitch opened at $40MM+ on the way to almost $180MM. This wasn't a romantic draw on a holiday, but it was close and people could relate to it.

I am surprised Eragon did so well. And I guess Happy Feet is still stealing some of Charlotte's business.

And only a 27% drop for Blood Diamond!

Casino Royale

$137.5+ million - US
$279.2+ million - foreign

$417 million total

It's now passed Die Another Day's foreign total by $8 million. I think audiences are fine with Craig as the new 007.

how does intake for the rerelease of 'The Polar Express' actually work - what it ever makes now, gets factored into the overall Box office gross? - right?

For $25.00 a ticket Eddie Murphy and Jamie Foxx better be in the theatre shaking my hand and giving autographs on the way out.

so that's why Lucas milks the Star Wars rereleases to death - next year's 3D engagements will make him even more money... greedy bastard.
