Any NAKED GUN DoubleDip News?

Amazon has an amazing price on the Naked Gun trilogy boxset, so I was really looking into getting that. However, being the sucker for better versions that I am, is there any news about any of the three films being Double Dipped in the not too far off future? Thanks.

I figured they'd do something in conjunction with the release of the Police Squad! series, like a new box set with SE's of the 3 films, but alas nothing. I say grab 'em. They're not prohibitively expensive or anything, and if they do re-release them as SE's, judging by the Airplane! Don't Call Me Shirley Edition, they may not be anything to write home about anyway.

Target sells all 3 Naked Gun films at a whopping $5.50 each, regular price. I believe all 3 have Zucker and Abrahms commentairies too.

I thought the Airplane! SE was one of the best DVDs of 2005 so I am personally still hoping they do give the entire series this treatment. It would be great to hear more from Leslie Nielsen (and Priscilla Presley and George Kennedy) on the making of the series while they're still around, and of course, I want the deleted scenes they apparently show on television. Hopefully something's in the works...

I would appreciate a re-release of the first Naked Gun with the extra footage shown on TV. Not incorporated, but as extended scenes. Whenever these things are padded for network broadcast, the DVD should carry that additional material. Lot of funny stuff.

Well, the Airplane!: DCMS edition was certainly better than the original DVD, but it wasn't what it should have been. It needed a true making-of doc with involvement from a few more of the principles. Also the only way to watch all the extras is to watch the movie and catch them all via seamless branching. A deleted/alternate scenes section would have been great. I'm not trashing it - it's an okay SE - I just don't think it was a truly great one, that was my point. Hopefully they'll try again at some point and really hit it out of the park. And I agree, it would be fantastic to see the Naked Gun films get even a modest upgrade. But considering that they can be had for $5.50 each, I think it's silly to hold-off in anticipation of SE's that may not even be on the horizon right now.

"Naked Gun 3" was on TNT or something and they showed bloopers on after the movie.

Bloopers! Why are these not on the DVD?

Matter of fact, all three films have extra scenes (or at least scene extensions) when aired on TV. I remember the second one, the opening sequence is much longer, with a lot of new stuff thrown in, but all the scenes are noticeably lower video quality. Off-hand, the only one I remember in the first one is that they show why umpire-Drebin's chest plate deflates, but there's a few others.
