Tribute gig for Princess Diana 07/01/07 @ Wembley

Here ya go...

By Simon Perry and Tim Nudd

Prince William and Prince Harry are planning a charity rock concert in England next year to honor their mother, Princess Diana, on the 10th anniversary of her death.

If it goes ahead, the concert will likely take place on July 1, which would have been Diana's 46th birthday, at London's soon-to-be-reopened Wembley Stadium.

Names that have been floated to perform at the event include The Killers (who are said to be a favorite of William, 24, and Harry, 22), Beyoncé and Pharrell Williams, who met William at a polo match in July.

Elton John, Sting, Phil Collins and George Michael are also likely to be invited to perform, according to reports.

A royal source tells PEOPLE, "People will mark the anniversary in many different ways. But whatever William and Harry decide to do will be their call and what they want. They will set the tone. Both of them are very firm about that."

The princes' communications secretary, Paddy Harverson, tells PEOPLE a concert is one of the ideas being thrown forward. "It is one of a number of options being considered for how to commemorate next year. But we are not ready to confirm anything yet."

Diana died in a car crash in Paris on Aug. 31, 1997, along with her boyfriend Dodi Fayed and their driver Henri Paul. According to the Associated Press, retired senior judge Dame Elizabeth Butler-Sloss is holding an inquest into the deaths and is awaiting a report on the crash by Lord John Stevens, former head of London's Metropolitan Police.ople/article/0,26334,1563040,00.html

The usual suspects. Is there any tribute/charity gig in the UK these 4 haven't been involved in?

Rumor has it that Madonna might be a part of it. Not holding my breath.

Was Sting, George Michael and Phil Collins involved in this concert yesterday? I watched most of the concert yesterday and I only remember seeing Elton John out of the four name listed.

the numbnuts at NBC Channel 4 (DC) didn't show the first twenty minutes in HiDef, I think they were asleep at the wheel.

Yay for the sneak preview of MHD on directv, allowed me to watch in Glorious HD. Man the guys from take that sure all aged in very differing ways.

And Frances Rossi from Status Quo cannot sing at all, especially when compared with Rod or Bryan Ferry

Ricky Gervais' stalling was definitely a highlight. He probably never thought he'd do the David Brent dance in Wembley

I didn't particularly like Rod Stewart set and hated Diddy performance of "I'll Be Missing You".

that was soooo OTT, let's have a gospel choir and a small string section... and let me prompt the audience to swing it's arms in the air - that song was so manipulative.

I watched a couple hours of it on the MHD channel, i never flipped over to the NBC 4 coverage of it due to my crappy Cox cable going out. Who cares, all i really wanted to see was Gervais, and it was amazing watching him panic out their with nothing to do.

Well it was the higgest rated show on Sunday, Which isn't saying much cause primetime ratings are low in the summertime. 8.73 million people watched it.

I had to post this shot of Gillian Anderson taken at this concert. She has definitely developed nicely.
