Where to get the best quality director's cut of The Last Emperor

Hey everyone, I was looking to buy the director's cut of The Last Emperor and I thought someone here might have an idea as to where to get it. I know the original artisan director's cut is OOP and available on Ebay for $$$ but I also know that version had a poor transfer. Is there another version that is better and will play on a NTSC player. I own a early Panasonic S97 that I think will play PAL but I only have a NTSC TV.
Thanks.

There's an anamorphic version available on dvdasian.com last time I checked.

The French 3DVD set containing both versions is for now the one and only quality choice on the market. You will have to hunt for it.

This is astounding. This film won the Academy Award for Best Picture of 1987, and it's not available in an anamorphic R1 presentation?

Check out this website to compare picture quality on the US vs. French release (the French disc appears to be a 2 disc release). I have a 2 disc version from the UK but you'd need to be able to convert PAL to NTSC to watch it (the picture is much better than the US release plus has extras). I'm hoping this will eventually make it to a high-defination disc release.

The 2DVD set does NOT offer the director's cut. And that is what the original poster is after.
