This includes the "Donner Cut" of II and Returns (thinking perhaps that Returns is a continuation of II).
So we have:
Superman I (ABC Extended and Theatrical)
Superman II
Superman II (Donner Cut)
Superman III
Superman IV
Superman Returns
I think I would go all originals, then Donner, then Returns.

Just for the record, the "Special Edition" of Superman I on DVD isn't the ABC cut...there's some stuff in there (Brando for one) that wasn't on ABC, and some other stuff that was on ABC, but isn't on the DVD cut.
The "correct" way would be this way:
Superman (Theatical)
Superman II (Theatrical)
Superman III
Supergirl
Superman IV
Superman (Special Edition)
Superman (Donner Cut)
Superman Returns

Superman IV
Superman (Special Edition)
Superman (Donner Cut)
Superman Returns

Superman
Superman II (theatrical, then Donner)
Superman Returns
then some time when you're drinking or REALLY bored, Superman III and Superman IV.
Just try not to look at them as sequels, more like comedic interpretations.

All I know is my friend just got one of those flat screen 50 inch TVs and I basically begged her to let me watch the Donner cut on it.
She's not a huge fan of superman but she did agree to sit through it with me, provided I sit through one HER favorite movies.
Oh god please let it not be a musical...

IIRC, someone in Supergirl mentions Superman being away from Earth. So, if you can stomach it, it would fit right between like: 1, 2, -girl, Returns.
