How would you rate your Cinema's Audio?

I'm trying solve a problem that for last year really has soured my theater experience. Besides the usual reasons folks wait for dvds like annoying inconsiderate movie goers or rates I find that sound at the two top places I go has been extremely low for me. I guess I must be going deaf at mid 30's already but when I can hear folks talking 9 rows down better then I can make out some parts of movie dialogue I have to question that. Nothing ever feels intense, like when explosions happen, etc.

I go to theater to have an experience better then my $200 headphones that I use all time in the apartment yet I swear they offer an better sound experience. Was there some mass complaints about audio being to loud in theaters or something? Is there a supreme place to sit to improve this that I am missing with my usual mid-to-high seating?
