DDD new site on 2007

While searching for DVDs during the latest 20% off sale I noticed a link that said that DDD is going to have books and a new site in 2007. Here is the link with the promo:
http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/sale/bookstore.html

It seems that DDD is trying to expand their business and make it more like Amazon.com . In theory it is a good idea, but I just hope that they don't raise their prices to cover for operational expenses.

I think if they sell paperbacks at a discount, they could do well. Amazon usually doesn't offer a discount on paperbacks, B&N only through the club and they charge tax, and Buy offers 10%, but I have way too many problems with them.

As long as the DDD20% sale stays... I'm up for any improvements.

OMG

A DDD site with books... a 20% off DDD sale on books would destroy my bank account.

That's it, I've figured it out!

Phase 1: Aquire books
Phase 2: Offer 20% discount
Phase 3: Profit!

The missing step is a 20% discount!

What's sadder is the fact that it hasn't changed at all since they opened in 2001!

Also notice, part of the new site is to roll DeepDiscountCD in as well... so it looks like the next 20% off sale will include dvds, books AND cds. My bank account is in A LOT of trouble.

I don't see how this could change the 20% OFF sales. Right now they sale video games on the DDD site yet those are always excluded from the sale. I don't recall there being a 20% OFF sale at DDCD.

Yeah. We can't assume that all the sections of the new site will apply to the 20% off sale. It's way too early to tell.

Considering that Amazon has recently slashed the discounts on books in the past month or so, I'm sort of looking forward to DDD getting into the book biz.

I've noticed that probably three-fourths of the books in my Amazon wishlist saw pretty severe increases in their prices. Most of them were by a full 10% or more. Books with cover prices around $20 were probably the hardest hit, with discounts going from 34% to 20%.

All I can say is: GO DDD!
I order most of my DVD's there (sale or no sale) and will probably give the books a try. I usually don't order CD's from there, as I find they take about 4 weeks on average for it to get to me.

Yep, they definitely need a site revamp. I don't know which site is crappier, DDD or DVDplanet.

looks like they closed their .ca site, and going to merge it with the .com with the new redesign. mind you I didn't order from their .ca site that often, because of the super high prices.

My girlfriend's computer illiterate parents wanted me to order a hard to find movie for them, but now I'm going to have to wait for the new site launch since I, being located in Canada, can't get free shipping from the .com site.

Change might be underway......

"An error occurred while attempting to establish a connection to the server.

The most likely cause of this problem is that the server is not currently running. Verify that the server is running and restart it if necessary.

Unix error number 111 occurred: Connection refused"
