Fuck yeah. The last episode was one of my favorites. This is clearly my favorite show on TV. I'll be interested to see what Roslin and Adama decide to do with the virus, what the virus consists of and who created it.
Totally unexpected and very interesting development, this virus.

even before it turned out the cylons were already dead I was saying they were stupid
they jumped in and the pilots weren't already in the launch tubes?
the executioners weren't already in the cell with the guns aimed?

This episode was very Trek-like in its use of a technobabble deus-ex-machina and "reset button" ending.

What a bad episode.
Paraphrasing:
Setting: We've endured 33 consecutives jumps and sleepless nights, we've lost friends, family, and eyeballs due to the cylons stopping at nothing but our annihilation.
President: We've just lost an opportunity to rest and defeat the cylons.
Adama: Yeah, we have a traitor and sabateur. But I'm not going to investigate it.
President: No prob. Next topic... (instead of, "WTF, are you crazy?")
Setting: Helo betrays everyone including his wife.
Helo: Maybe it was a mistake to do what I did. I can life with that decision. But I can't live without you.
How exactly does his actions show that? Now his beloved wife is more likely to die in battle as oppose to living out the remainder of their lives in peace. Plus, she's fraggin immune, him preventing the virus upload does not save her.
What a shitty ep.

Worst episode since Black Market. Someone betrays the entire fleet..scratch that...betrays all of humanity and Adama just casually declares he's not going to investigate it and then Roslin just kinda shrugs and accepts it?
It would have been better for them to have jumped in, executed the cylons, then jumped away...only for us to find out the cylons had already figured out/guessed the cylon baby's blood was immune and they created some kind of cure based off it.
Plus, Katee's back to her cute short hair and they don't even let us see her except for in a helmet!!!!
More Starbuck, less Helo in the future please.

this probably was one of the hottest episodes for six.
aside from her scenes, episode didn't do much for me. too many things didn't really make any sense.
at least we know now that the cylons are racing the humans to Earth.

President Roslin should have pulled back and bitch-slapped some of the stupid out of Helo. There for a second, I thought even Athena was about to say "Helo, I've pledged myself to this fleet and put on this uniform so that I could be a person...now quit being such a bitch about this."

Pretty stupid episode.
I'll have to listen to the podcast to hear Moore's reasoning behind this.
Too bad Tigh wasn't around, he would have taken care of Helo.

So does that mean they have an easy way to detect Cylons now? Infect them with encephalitis and see who gets sick?
I liked the hard questions that were behind this episode, but it seemed to be handled a bit weakly. I understand, though, that not every episode can be as solid and the first ones so far this season.

Contrary to everyone else. This my be one of my favorite eppisodes. At the end of season 2 Helo and Athena were the only 2 characters I really cared what happened to them. Sure its interesting to see how starbuck is gonna fuck up next. But if she died I would not feel her loss. Now that this season has started I also am interested in what happens to Adama and Baltar. To me these are the only four people who I really have sympathy for. To me even if going through with the virus was the end all and assured you safety. I couldnt justify ending an entire species of sentient beings.

The reaction of various characters to the virus was good -- having Athena be pro-mass murder was a nice twist; and Helo's case against genocide was a lot stronger than Dr. Crusher's in I, Borg. But how it played out sucked. Turning a blind eye when an officer disobeys a Presidential order he disagrees with is something TOS Adama would do, but not Bill. Laura should've knocked him silly for trying that.
And the technobabble in this episode didn't make sense with what was already established. Can Kottle detect Cylons now -- if not, how can he figure out why the virus affected them and not humans? A virus can be transmitted along with a Cylon katra? A race that uses computer viruses as weapons doesn't have a way of detecting trojans or forbidding access from users who've been compromised? You can depressurize a room by unplugging a cable that looks like it came straight from a PC? The migration from Kobol has been reduced to mythology, but humans have records of a virus that first appeared during that period?
Dumb, dumb, dumb.

maybe they wrote this episode last? they had the season story and needed one more episode to complete it so they made this up just as a filler to be quickly forgotten except for the baltar part. my guess is the torture will turn him into count baltar and maybe they will give him machine parts to replace an ear or anything else that was damaged

As does the storyline in DS9 where the woman Changeling (like Odo) attempts to wipe out the Cardassian's.

Also, wasn't there an episode of TNG where they had a chance to return a Borg (Hugh?) with a "virus" (or program) that would destroy the entire Collective, but they decide not to because of ethical concerns, and they felt that Hugh would "infect" them with individuality instead (which didn't really work that well, in retrospect)? It's wasn't a female leader's doing, but it's fairly similar.
It's been a long time since I've seen TNG, so I may be mixing some things up...
