Diddy wants to become first black Bond Fri Nov 3, 8:18 AM ET

COPENHAGEN (Reuters) - He changed his stage name from Puff Daddy to P. Diddy and now Diddy, but what he would really like to be called is Bond ... James Bond.

"One day the time will come for a black Bond and hopefully I can audition for it," U.S. rapper and entrepreneur Sean "Diddy" Combs said on the sidelines of the MTV Europe Music Awards late on Thursday.

"It's a dream of mine to play a great role like that."

The current holder of that position is actor Daniel Craig, who plays the secret agent in the eagerly-awaited "Casino Royale," which comes out later this month. Craig also attended the Copenhagen show to present an award.

"I love the Bond they have now," said Diddy. "He's a great actor and I think they made a great choice."

Diddy's acting resume consists mainly of a role as a death-row inmate in the racially charged drama "Monster's Ball" in 2002.

As Bond, Diddy, who performed at the MTV awards, said he would apply his mantra of always making sure his audience is entertained.

"That's what we get paid to do," he said, sporting a sharp gray suit and oversized sunglasses. "If I'm going to step on the stage, I'm going to entertain you. Hopefully the people felt entertained tonight."

We could probably get a cameo from Biggie, at least.

If there is eventually a black James Bond, it should be Colin Salmon !

Come on, enought with this, "Let's change the ethnicity of an established character just for effect," crap.

Get real, P. Dud.

Yeah, and the time will come for a WHITE Shaft, too!

And thanks to Kanye West, this is only the second most ridiculous thing said by an American rapper at this event.
