Just wanted to remind those interested this starts tonight. I didn't see anyone else discussing it. I've read this season is suppose to bring more of the funny and less of the drama.

This episode was bad, but then again it was nothing like Season 1 - this is a different show now. With the core group in College, Marissa gone, and Kaitlyn and her friends make the high school more abou the popular people, than the outsiders...

well since most people talked about this episode in the "the o.c. on myspace" thread last week...I suppose this one won't get much play.
here's a GREAT interview with Josh Shwartz that has me really excited for this season!

Let me get this straight? Ryan has been cagefighting? Summer has become an environmentalist hippy? Julie is a pillpopper?

I thought Ryan's cagefighting stint was just a rumor. Had to laugh when it turned out it wasn't. Anyway, glad to have this show back and hope we have some fun this season (only 13 episodes, right?).

That's about right.
EW, either in this week's mag or last week's, says it should be fun again by the 4th episode.

I'm glad they ran w/ my cage-fighting idea. With the success of UFC, I knew it would make for a great storyline.

People deal with loss in different ways.

That and Summer is obviously not happy doing the activist hippie thing.

I thought it was a decent episode. There are some signs the OC is going back to it's roots, but IMO the bread and butter of the show are Peter Gallagher and Melinda Clarke. They keep the show from falling apart. However, after reading last nights Nielsen ratings, I'm really beginning to think this is the last season. It finished T-13th with Supernatural and was down 45% from last season.

Yeah... it got slaughtered last night.

Maybe a time slot shift would help, but I'm not sure where they could put it.
ABC took sole possession of first at 9 p.m. with "Grey's Anatomy," 13.8/20. CBS was a close second with "CSI," 12.8/19. NBC's "Deal or No Deal" scored a better-than-average 7.9/12. The season premiere of "The O.C." earned a 2.2/3 for FOX, finishing in a virtual tie in total viewers with The CW's "Supernatural."

Not only did the show almost tie with SUPERNATURAL last night, but it lost over half its audience from last season... These are not good things
.
As for a timeslot switch that might help, but where would FOX put it like you said? Friday's would work if it wasn't a teensoap (because most of its target audience won't be home), Tuesday's would kill it because of CW's lineup, and FOX's Sun/Mon/Wed schedules are pretty solid (especially with AMERICAN IDOL returning in two months...
Maybe its time to start saying goodbye... (especially if ONE TREE HILL/SUPERNATURAL continue to garner better ratings with repeats...)

The World Series I think helped to kill the OC last night as well.
No one has watched Fox for the past month, and if you are not watching Fox, Would anyone know when the OC is coming back?
its a shame too, this season is already looking better than last year.
