Best Buy Magazine scam question
Today as I purchased some DVDs, I was bombarded by their stupid scam with their "free" 8 issue magazine trial. I didn't even want the fucking thing, but they gave it to me anyway. I read my receipt and saw I will be charged after the 8 issues for a 6 month sunscription unless I cancel. I go to the Sports Illustrated website to cancel it before I forget, and it doesn't have a record of my pin number. Does it take several days to process or should I call the 800 number? I made this purchase today.
Anyway, fuck Best Buy and their deceptive practices.

I always just tell them I have subscriptions to them.

They haven't hit me up for those lately. But they always used to try to force Sports Illustrated or Entertainment Weakly on me.
I generally tell them I don't want them or that I already get them.
Don't they penalize the clerks if they don't sell a certain quota of subscriptions?

I've always said "no", and haven't had any troubles. If they put it on your credit card without you asking, I would get your credit card company involved. Possibly go back to the store and talk to the manager.

Everytime they ask me, I say no thanks, and I've never had a problem either... sounds like a cashier got a little too impatient that day.
Which is fraud. Go back and get the little fucker fired.

I thought I did say no. I thought i swiped my debit card to pay for my DVDs ,but they did it for the magazine information instead. I was in a hurry and really didn't care at the time. I hate Best Buy and avoid them as much as possible, however, JFK and Seven for $20 was an offer I couldn't refuse.
I will not be going back regardless of the bargains.

I also never encountered any issue beyond me telling them "No thanks". I have signed up for it quite regularly in the past.. then cancelled before the last issue arrived. I think I had almost a year free at one point from just signing up and cancelling them when Media Play was around and doing the same thing!

To answer your question, yes, it probably takes a few days to process your order and make it into the system. Wait until this weekend and then go online again to cancel.

i believe the wording on the thing says that by signing up, you will be charged if you don't cancel after 8 issues.
i have signed up for this before and just cancelled after i could of issues and didn't have a problem.
you have to fill out your address information anyway to get the magazine so at the point, you could have said no, thats not what i wanted and had them cancel the deal and rerun it which probably won't have taken much more time than to sign up for the deal.

Have you ever dealt with the older white lady at the BB on PCH that is usually closest to the exit?
She pimps out those subscriptions to everyone and is always analyzing her subscription tally.
She's heard NO from me enough times that she's stopped doing it now to me.

I did SI once, but I've subscribed to EW since 91, so I don't need their sub.
I was told once you can get charged for the 6 month sub, go all the way to the next to last issue, then cancel, and you'll get a refund. I still said no.
