(AP) Barbra Streisand performs in New York's Madison Square Garden, Monday, Oct. 9, 2006.
NEW YORK (AP) - The most riveting moment of Barbra Streisand's Madison Square Garden concert was one of the only unscripted ones.
Streisand endured jeers as she interjected a political skit into Monday night's show, exchanging zingers with a celebrity impersonator playing George Bush as a bumbling idiot.
Though most of the crowd offered polite applause during the slightly humorous routine, it went on a bit too long, especially for those who just wanted to hear Streisand sing.
"Come on, be polite!" the well-known liberal implored. But one heckler wouldn't let up. And finally, Streisand let him have it.
"Shut the (expletive) up!" Streisand bellowed, drawing wild applause. "Shut up if you can't take a joke!"
With that one F-word, the jeers ended. And the message was delivered - no one gets away with trying to upstage Barbra Streisand, especially not in her hometown.

Whatever happened to the lawsuit some of her fans filed against her regarding her not so "Farewell" tour? They had dumped thousands of dollars to be at her last concert ever, and then she went out on another tour.

while i wholeheartedly agree with her views and liberal musicians, i go to a concert to see people sing...why do they need to alienate fans and say this stuff??

The news is saying that Her people are now saying the guy was a "right wing plant".

I actually heard on the news last night, that she was going to apologize - for what?! the guy was an ass regardless how he was acting. I've been to a number of shows where the band/singers have been vocal back to stupid obnoxious punters.

I actually went to the Barbra concert in DC last night - and honestly, I don't get the big deal about that little comedy interlude, the way that the story ran it sounded like it took half her show - it was maybe ten minutes - and she spent the rest of the time singing, and it was gorgeous. (And I say this having always made fun of my mother for her Barbra obsession, but the woman can really really sing. Wow. I had to eat a little crow after that - it was amazing.)
Then again, of course DC loved the whole thing - the crowd was cheering during it. No hecklers in our town
