SPLINTER CELL DOUBLE AGENT: Collector's Edition

Splinter Cell Double Agent Gets Special Treatment
Ubisoft offers a limited Collector's Edition of Sam Fisher's new adventure.

October 5, 2006 - Ubisoft today unveiled the Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent Collector's Edition, a limited-run package designed and priced for the especially sneaky among you. The Collector's Edition of Sam Fisher's latest mission adds an assortment of goodies to the Xbox 360 edition of the game, for a straight-up $69.99.

The deets? As a Collector, you'll get a "Covert Ops" documentary on the game; a behind-the-scenes feature on making the game; an interview with Michael Ironside, voice of Sam Fisher; multiplayer tips; seven mini-films; game trailers; and a concept art gallery -- all wrapped in "innovative" packaging.

The Double Agent Collector's Edition will arrive alongside the Standard Plain No-Frills Edition on October 17.

I'm going to pre-order this at Best Buy, in order to get the free 1250 points card ($20 value, here in Canada.) I don't know if I'll get the Collector's Edition, because I'm not sure if I want the extra disc, but we'll see.

No, reviews usually come out a couple of days before or after the game does. Still another week and a half to wait.

So the Xbox 360 version comes out on the 17th, and the PS2, Xbox, and PC versions come out on the 25th? What's up with that?

I was planning on buying the PC version, I hate waiting longer

It looks like some websites (like Amazon and ToysRUs) have something called the "gold key promo." Any idea what that is? Is it something you can't get if you just buy it a store?

At this point they shpuld just package every game in the metal tins. I mean 85% of them have that option anyway.

I'm not down for the $70 though. That is how they hook people on paying $70 and then next gen that will be the cost of a regular title.

The splinter cell series is my favorite of all time but $70 for that? No thanks. I bought Chaos Theory CE used from someone for $35 and it looked brand new a few weeks after it came out and was retailing for $59.99. It wasn't even a great CE (which most aren't) Sorry Ubisoft, I love splinter cell and I want to support you for making great games but I'm broke! I will probably get the regular edition if I can get a good price on it.

If I had to guess, it might be that you get a 48 hour trial key to XBOX Live Gold?

Someone sell me on Splinter Cell. I've never played any of them, but the trailer seems pretty interesting.

I'm thinking about picking it up next week.

It's a third person stealth game. Slower pace than your typical shooter. Lots of cool gadgets to use, sticky cameras, air foil and electric shock rounds. Graphics are always top notch. Some missions allow you to run and gun but most require creeping through shadows and avoiding conflicts. I never played the multi-player much but I've heard good things about it. They have a multi-player demo up on the marketplace now for the 360 version. I'd probably get this one but my gaming plate is pretty full with GOW and COD3 just around the corner.

Cool thanks ed. I don't mind a slower pace, as Condemned, which is also a slower paced title, is one of my faves this gen.

I'm not that good at stealth games and although I had one Spilnter Cell game before on XBOX I couldn't get into it. Not that it wasn't good and didn't look great, but because my skills were lacking. Either way I've always head nothing but good about this series.

This new game does look Kick Ass and I may even pick it up.

While slightly off-topic I haven't been able to enjoy any of the Splinter Cell games up to this point. Nothing ever compared to the Thief line of games.

that CIA level in the first Splinter Cell got me so mad at times that I was hitting my coffee table with a hammer (granted it was a wooden board bolted to egg crates) but still.

Right, I think I only played a DEMO of the 1st SC game. I had the last one they made on XBOX. Chaos Theory? I got into some cave and into some hideout and got killed over and over so I stopped playing...'cause I suck as sneak games.

The only cave in Chaos Theory that I remember is the cave at the very beginning of the first mission. You must really suck if you could not get past the first 10 minutes of the game.

Bite me. I coulda played it but I didn't try that hard. I bought it cheap and used so I didn't dedicate myself.
