Amazon/ A9 Instant Rewards Program Discontinued

From the A9 page:

A9.com Website & Toolbar – New Features and Changes

September 29th, 2006 — A New Look and Focus for the A9.com Website
We redesigned the A9.com website to make it easier and quicker to discover information from more sources. The left hand column of the page has some groups of search sources that you can select from. Within each group, you can choose to display or hide specific search columns. You can quickly switch among groups, and you can also quickly add additional groups that we have built. You can also add any OpenSearch™ search source to any group, and move sources among groups by dragging and dropping them.

To make it easier to navigate your results, we have introduced a new continuous scrolling feature, so you no longer have to bother with next and previous buttons to move from one page of results to the next. You can now also drag-and-drop the columns to change their order on the page.

We have discontinued the A9 Instant Reward program, and the A9 Toolbar and personalized services such as history, bookmarks, and diary. To get help uninstalling your A9 Toolbar, visit toolbar.a9.com. We have also discontinued A9 Maps and the A9 Yellow Pages (including BlockView™).

Access to Bookmarks and Diary: If you had any bookmarks or diary entries, we have saved them in files for you that you can access in the Product Extras section of your Amazon Media Library. To download the file, click download in the right-hand column (if you don't see download, select list view). There are up to three files located: one with both bookmarks and diary entries in a searchable, printable form; one with bookmarks in a format easy to import to other browsers; and one with diary entries in a text/xml format
.

So it seems that the logo below will be gone pretty soon and a9.com is going to become the suckiest web engine ever.

Well, looks like I won't be using a9 anymore. I only used it a couple of times a week anyway to keep up my rewards status. Ah well. It wasn't that much of a reward anyway, although it came in handy this summer when I ordered a very expensive MP3 player.

That is an awful search engine, especially if you are doing an image search.

It says that it has been discontinued, yet I just put The Little Mermaid and Xmen the Last Stand DVDs in my Amazon cart and went to checkout and it it still says I am going to get my .45¢ A9 discount.

Maybe I should place my order now for them instead of waiting for Tuesday to get them at Best Buy.

I agree. I just saved $2 and some cents with Alias Collection. Now I hope it doesn't disappear until Tuesday or later. That way I can use it on my DVD Recorder purchase.

Just placed an order for an LCD TV on amazon and still got the discount.
Had the feeling the discount might be gone by tomorrow, didn't want to take the chance.

Share The Love and the A9 Discount both gone, but those useless "Friday Sales" and that stupid Gold Box (no, after all these years I STILL don't want a vibrating mole chaser!) linger on.

Hope the free shipping doesn't go away. Without that I will end up going back to B & M stores.

Well, back to using Google then. I really liked the History function... I was able to find pages I'd "lost" occassionally.

You bought an 80GB iPod in fear of losing the discount? What was it, like 7 dollars?

Well, I guess every bit counts.

My discount is gone. I was hoping to do a little early Christmas buying on some deals before it went away. With the discount, no sales tax and the give back on my Amazon card it really pays off for me. At least I won't have to use the lousy search engine anymore.

Mine is gone too!
Damn, I was hoping to do a lot pre-orders using this discount but held it for a while because one item is still unavailable for pre-order...
I should just go ahead .. Bye-bye A9 search.
